The Tamanique Waterfalls offer the perfect half day adventure in El Salvador, a chance to hike, cool off, and explore the country’s stunning natural beauty.
Located 600 meters above sea level and just 30 minutes from the beach town of El Tunco, Tamanique is an ideal escape from the coastal heat. The area is surrounded by lush green hills that stretch toward the Pacific Ocean, creating a pleasant climate and breathtaking views of the coastline.
This region is known for its rolling hills and corn plantations, and the name Tamanique means “The Taken Land.”
The Tamanique Waterfalls are a series of four cascades. You can jump from three of them, while the fourth and tallest plunges an impressive 50 meters into a natural pool, perfect for swimming and relaxing as you take in the view of water flowing down from the hills above.
During your visit, you will also explore the local park and the town’s charming Catholic church, adding a touch of culture to this unforgettable nature experience.
