2-Day Tour: The Sacred Valley Wonders & Machu Picchu

Experience the ingenuity of the Inca Empire on this immersive 2-day journey. From the vibrant textile traditions of Chinchero to the mysterious circular terraces of Moray and the white salt pans of Maras, you will explore the most unique sites of the Sacred Valley before witnessing the majesty of Machu Picchu.

Tour Highlights

  • Chinchero: Step back in time in this "living Inca village" to witness traditional weaving demonstrations and explore ruins perched high in the Andes.

  • Moray: Marvel at the deep, amphitheater-like circular terraces used by the Incas as an advanced agricultural laboratory.

  • Maras Salt Mines: Capture photos of thousands of ancient, snow-white salt ponds still harvested by hand today.

  • Ollantaytambo: Explore the massive stone fortress that served as the last stronghold of the Inca resistance.

  • Machu Picchu: Enjoy a comprehensive guided tour of the New Seven Wonder of the World.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: The Heart of the Sacred Valley

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Cusco into the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is Chinchero, where you’ll learn the ancient secrets of Andean weaving and visit its beautiful colonial church. Next, we head to the mysterious ruins of Moray, where concentric terraces create distinct micro-climates once used for crop experimentation.

Nearby, we visit the Salineras de Maras, a stunning patchwork of over 3,000 salt ponds that have been in use since pre-Inca times. After lunch in the valley, we explore the monumental fortress of Ollantaytambo, an architectural masterpiece of the Incas. In the late afternoon, we board the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the town at the foot of Machu Picchu, where you will spend the night.

Day 2: The Lost City of the Incas

Wake up early to catch one of the first buses up to the Machu Picchu citadel. As the mist clears, your expert guide will lead you through the "Lost City," sharing the history and mysteries of the Sun Temple, the Sacred Plaza, and the Intihuatana stone. After your tour, you'll have time to soak in the atmosphere of this world-renowned sanctuary before returning to Aguas Calientes for your train journey back to Cusco.
