Join Joan Hyman and The School of Yoga in Rajasthan, India for a two hundred hour teacher training retreat style March 9 - 24, 2024. 


The training will be held at Pangarh Lake Retreat, two and a half hours outside of Udaipur, known as the Venice, Italy of India. Experience the wonders of India amidst the serenity and tranquillity of nature. This retreat center is off-trail, unspoiled, and tucked away in a remote setting completely lakeside, surrounded by rolling hills, and with the peaceful sounds of nature.


A perfect place to immerse yourself in a yoga teacher training!


Hosted by Joan Hyman who is the founder of The School of Yoga which is a continuing education teacher training school. She  is very excited to offer her 200 Hour Teacher Training called The Elements of Yoga in this exquisite setting! 


This training is a foundational training focused on alignment, sequencing, anatomy (physical & subtle), and philosophy. You don't have to want to teach yoga to enroll in this training, only have desire to go deeper in your yoga practice!


This training will be assisted by Stacey Shea, who will also participate in some teaching hours. She brings together years of study and practice, inclusive of Bikram’s Beginning Yoga, Vinyasa, Yin-Restorative, Iyengar, Meditation and Breathwork.  As a 500-hour eRYT , Stacey has studied 350 hours with Maty Ezraty and has completed her 300-hour professional yoga teacher’s training with SOY.  


The training will include:


  • The study of Asana. (Yoga Postures).
  • Anatomy applied to asana.
  • The benefits and contraindications of asana and how to make postures accessible for everyone.
  • How to work with props.
  • The art of reading bodies and performing hands on adjustments.
  • How to teach beginners.
  • The art of sequencing a vinyasa flow class.
  • How to teach a private yoga session.
  • The history of yoga.
  • Yogic philosophy from the perspective of The Yoga Sutras.
  • The subtle body, including: the chakras, vayus, bandhas, and pranayama.
  • Restorative yoga.
  • Prenatal yoga.
  • How to be an effective teacher.
  • How to find your authentic voice 
  • Practice teaching in a group.


On our day off, we will explore authentic villages and the remote countryside. Rajasthan  offers beautiful nature and is known as the land of Kings and for its service and hospitality. Enjoy nearby hikes, take a boat out into the lake for a swim, and enjoy the pool located on the retreat center. 


You will leave the training with a deeper understand of the practice of yoga and understand how to sequence postures together to create a practice. . The School of Yoga offers a 300 Hour Teacher Training program which is the next step that will guide you towards teaching yoga. 


This teacher training is a Yoga Alliance RYT training. If you have already completed a 200 HR YTT, please message Joanhymanyoga@gmail.com and let her know which training you have completed  and when to be eligible for a discount. 


You will receive a 15 hour pre-recorded prep course to work at your own convenience before the training in India begins. You will also receive six free zoom classes on Joan's platform to prepare for the training and a 220 page yoga manual.


Once the training is complete, Joan will give you access to her Sequencing to Transform 25 Hour Module, to help you advance in your studies.

Joan began her own journey in India in 2006 studying with the world renowned Sir. K. Pattabhi Joins in Mysore, India. She has lead retreats and trainings in India since 2012. She believes studying yoga in India adds a richness and a depth that can't be found in the western world of yoga. She has traveled extensively through India and blends the eastern and western worlds in her teachings. She believes, It's only through understanding daily practice yoga that one can begin to teach.

This includes transportation to and from the Udaipur Airport and the Retreat Center. I will connect you to the retreat center to arrange a pick up.

Two Hundred Hour Teacher Training & Lakeside Retreat

You will fly into Udaipur, India Airport. A taxi will pick you up and drive 2.5 hours through farm lands in the beautiful countryside of Rajasthan. This lakeside retreat center is tucked away in a remote and peaceful setting. 


Check in is March 9, 2024 at 3pm and the opening ceremony will begin at 5pm along with an orientation.


Practice and the training sessions start the next day at 8am and the retreat ends on Sunday March 24 at 1pm.

Please arrange flights so you will land in Udaipur, India by 12pm.

Orientation and opening ceremony will begin at 5pm.

A light practice will follow and dinner will be at 7pm.

Daily Itinerary

  • 8am Morning practice. (This includes two 3-hour practices, including meditation and pranayama, while focusing on the asana theme of the day.)
  • Short Break
  • Review Sequence and postures taught.
  • Lunch Break
  • Philosophy discussion and study/or Subtle Body.
  • Short Break
  • Hands on adjustments, practice teaching, or a wind down practice for the day.
  • Dinner at 6:30pm with Sunset

Exploring the countryside of Rajasthan

This will be our day off and we will visit authentic villages and the country side of Rajasthan. Rajasthan is known as the Land of the kings and where we will see castles and temples and see India in a very real way!
