Established in 2009, Power Yoga Canada’s (PYC) 200 Hour Certification is one of Canada’s most comprehensive Yoga Teacher Training programs with over 800 graduates of the program! Power Yoga Canada is extremely excited to announce the 200 Hour Summer 2023 Yoga Teacher Training that will have participants transform abroad at Amaru Nicaragua for 12 intensive days.
The program is a combination of asana, meditation, and self-inquiry. You can expect to be engaged from day one in experiential learning through practice teaching, partner work, and group discussions. You will be engaged with a cohort of like-minded individuals for the duration of the program that will include over 160 interactive contact hours with PYC Co-Founder Kinndli McCollum.
We have been delivering impactful, LIFE-CHANGING, community-building Yoga Teacher Trainings for over 10 years and our Spring 2024 program will be delivered with the same excellence and high standards. Our 200 hour program is unique in that it attracts both yoga practitioners who are interested in becoming powerful yoga teachers and many people who are interested in self-inquiry and truth-seeking within themselves. The tools you gain will change you in everything you do; your relationships, your work, your self-expression, and you will leave a confident yoga teacher!

- Techniques (asana & assisting) – 100 hours

- Philosophy / Ethics/Lifestyle – 30 hours
- Practicum (teaching & assisting live classes) – 10 hours

At Amaru, you can still find uncrowded waves in a comfortable environment. In addition, there are nice accommodations, good meals, gracious hosts, good weather, and stoked surfers. Every aspect of this trip worked quite well from transfers to guiding, and yoga. Also a few nice photos. I would certainly go back.

Thank you for helping me feel at home. I loved the jaw-dropping views, easy access to multiple surf breaks of varying levels, comfortable rooms, healthy food, and the various spaces and opportunities for solitude or social interaction. Everyone was so friendly and supportive, especially Gerritt. I really hope they can clone Gerritt at least 8 times so he can execute his beautiful vision for the resort and the community at large.

i booked the surf and yoga retreat on the fly. it was the best decision i could have made. from the accommodation to the food (very tasty and they even cooked vegan for me), the people, the yoga and the surf lessons - it was perfect. so good that i ditched my travel plans and stayed at amaru.
i had the best surf lessons - my fear of the ocean turned into a healthy respect, from the long board i could already switch to a smaller one and the most important - we had soooo much fun in the water.
no matter what surf level you have - they adapt the lessons so that you get the most out of them. the coaches are amazing!
at the end, what made my time at amaru especially unique, was that gerritt and his team created an atmosphere where I felt like home. everyone can be completely themselves. and all helped and supported each other.
together it is one beautiful big family. AMARU is unique!

You are so super welcome Ariane :) It was so fun to watch your surfing progress from a longboard to now ripping on a shortboard. As your time extended you no longer felt like a guest, but a full on sister that has lived here for years with us. Can't wait till we get to play in the ocean again in the hopefully near future :)

Dear folks at the Amaru surf camp
Dear Sabrina, Gerritt, Gabriella, Naia, Josh, Tati, Jefferson, Alex, Roswell and the entire staff of the Amora surf camp.( apologies if I missed anybody).
I just wanted to say a deep thank you and let you guys know that I truly truly enjoyed my time there and with you - as you guys made it special; and I really hope I can make it back there sooner than later. You guys were just wonderful with teaching us and being encouraging on the surfing lessons, plus the time spent with you guys knowing we have friends around was just fantastic.
The location the weather, the waves was great the care that Josh and tati, especially Tati and Josh took in teaching us how to surf and all the other excursions like horseback, riding and wake surfing I truly could not thank you enough, me and my Wife Sweta had a wonderful time with the other couple as well but for my own personal experience, I just wanted to deeply deeply thank you and also someday, when you guys come to the East Coast of the US in New Hampshire give me chance to pay it forward, bring a wetsuit.. lol ,
I truly loved it there and I hoping to see you all again sooner than later in Nica - Take good care of your health and most importantly, keep surfing ... so you can teach me when I back there 😊...

I never write reviews so I’m not really sure where to begin. All I know is that my week at Amaru was truly amazing! I was looking for a beach vacation to relax, spend time surfing and practice yoga and I got that and so much more. I shared delicious meals with an amazing community, watched the sunrise and set with some new friends and made so many memories in paradise. I traveled solo and felt safe the entire time (there is 24 hour security and it is gated.) I would like to thank Gerrit and Naia for everything! I can’t wait to go back!
