What a lovely experience! Gerritt and Gaba have created a uniquely welcoming slice of paradise. They’ve complemented the region’s excellent breaks with a resort and staff community that makes guests feel perfectly at home. In May 2026 I did Amaru's weeklong Surf School Package and I couldn't be happier. Victor, my instructor, was knowledgeable, attentive, and dedicated, and he worked hard helping me improve my skills, whether in the water or on land during our daily video reviews of my performance. Besides this, the location was beautiful, the room and facilities user-friendly, the food home-cooked and plentiful, and the vibes super chill. I'm already thinking of going back next year. I had a phenomenal time at Amaru. A yet to be discovered jem of a setting, it is off the main path of life and travel. The waves are warm and there's always time for surfing. The staff are guests of Amaru, so give them grace. This isn't a 'resort'. This is a place someone goes to rest their soul, reflect, find introspection and perform inner healing. The staff are also travellers on a rest stop who need to find a common home for awhile, yet also join meals with the guests and exchange funny stories and life experiences. It's a backpacker's haven of sorts in this modern world. The accommodations are decent and clean. Most rooms offer some air conditioning during the day, the pool is a welcome plunge on a hot afternoon and the food is hand prepared - especially pizza nights. Wifi is decent if still having the pull of work-life. The dogs and cats are a nice addition for furry company. There's so much I wish to share, yet one has to experience it for themselves. It can't be expressed in words. It must be seen and felt. Thank you Amaru. Maybe my son will find himself there one day...taking surfing lessons from Garrett.
