I have surfed in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and El Salvador. None of these places can touch Amaru. I like to get off the grid and enjoy good waves and good local, healthy meals. Amaru checks all the boxes. Gerrit and his staff are top notch-friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I have been to Amaru three times since January, 2025 and each trip has been fantastic. I will be back.

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Amaru for many reasons. Garrett, Gabba, Sabrina and the rest of the crew were extremely hospitable, welcoming and kind as our hosts. We truly felt pampered with amazing food, refreshing drinks and services that made us feel like we could truly decompress. My family chose the Wellness, Surf School and Surf Guide packages. The Wellness packages were great for my mother and fiancé who loved all the yoga taught by Willow, breath work, sweat lodge and other included perks. Anabel and Marcos were excellent at helping my father improve his surfing skills with the Surf School package. Finally, my brother and I loved being shown the local point and beach breaks by Victor for our Surf Guide packages. There are so many compliments I can list off for Amaru and the wonderful people running this surf/yoga retreat. They truly treat you as family and the space feels like home away from home. My only minor complaint was that my room had ants a few nights, but nothing that was intolerable. I cannot recommend Amaru enough, I would stay again without hesitation with my family or a group of friends. Gracias por todo Amaru!

What a lovely experience! Gerritt and Gaba have created a uniquely welcoming slice of paradise. They’ve complemented the region’s excellent breaks with a resort and staff community that makes guests feel perfectly at home. The food was delicious and plentiful, rooms were clean and well-appointed, and instruction was focused and supportive. Thanks for making my week in Nicaragua so special.
