I joined the Acro and Surf Retreat, and it was an amazing experience! The yoga shala is such a stunning space for acro, surrounded by nature and good energy, and the beaches were perfect for surfing and sunset hangouts. The instructors were so inspiring and created an environment where I could challenge myself and grow. The accommodations were comfortable, and I really appreciated the air conditioning in my room. The food was fresh, delicious, and mindful of dietary needs. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, which made my first solo trip feel like I was instantly part of a supportive community. The excursions added an extra touch of adventure that made the week even more special. I came to Amaru looking for expansion and rejuvenation, and I left feeling more alive than I have in a long time.

Amaru is the best surf resort that I have visited and I have visited many. The staff are all enthusiastic, friendly, and passionate people. The love Nicaragua and their slice of paradise and it shows. They go the extra mile always and make sure that you don't just have a vacation but a meaningful experience that will change your life for the better. I have visited twice now and plan to visit every year from now on. The location is absolutely stunning and the surf is world class. Also, I practice yoga and see that Amaru is hosting numerous yoga retreats. So if you are more into yoga than surf (but want to try surfing or improve at it), this is a perfect place. There are also lots of other activities that you can do outside of yoga and surfing. Some people are uncomfortable traveling to Nicaragua because of different travel warnings, but I feel absolutely safe and comfortable there. The local people everywhere from small shops and cafes in the rural areas to the big city are kind and happy that you are visiting. All I can say is go as soon as you can and you will be so happy that you did.

Had a great time. Wonderful people and property. World class access to waves with great food and a mellow atmosphere. Really loved my time at Amaru and will definitely return.

Great trip for someone learning how to surf! I felt like the lodging was incredibly safe, and instructors were knowledgeable about teaching basic skills/tricks to maximize safety in the water. Obviously there is risk associated with any physical activity, but I felt like Amaru and their leadership team did everything to minimize the chance of injury and danger.

Absolutely fantastic! The staff, the food, the level of care for the guests, the cleanliness, all aspects were high quality. I highly recommend Amaru.

I attended a week-long yoga retreat here in July 2025, and recommend Amaru Nicaragua. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were simple but comfortable (loved the in-room air conditioning), and the food was tasty and healthy with plenty of variety. The yoga shala is a beautiful raised space nestled in trees, with a breeze, the sound of waves, and a beautiful view of the ocean. Loved the sweat lodge excursion and the wakeboarding side excursion (and the surf lesson was a hit for those who went). Laundry service was quick, inexpensive and well done. Overall, I had a very special, memorable and enjoyable trip, and Amaru Nicaragua helped make that happen.
