Arequipa’s history isn’t only found in books—you will feel it as you walk among its white sillar walls.
Founded in 1540, the city grew where Andean traditions met European influence, creating a unique identity shaped by its volcanic landscape.
On this walk, you’ will explore colonial mansions, churches, and monasteries in the historic center, discovering how Arequipa turned adversity into beauty using sillar stone from the Misti and Chachani volcanoes.
The walk takes us to the Andean Sanctuaries Museum, where in ancient times the Capacocha ceremony marked a sacred ritual: girls and adolescents were offered to the Apus—the protective spirits of the mountains—in an act of profound respect and devotion. Considered the purest, they walked for days to the snow-capped peaks where they would be given, not as a punishment, but as a bridge between the human and the divine worlds.
Centuries later, during the colonial period, other girls were also offered—this time to convents. Many entered without a voice or a choice, as part of family alliances or religious vows. In this way, femininity was once again consecrated, no longer to the mountain, but to the cloister. Both forms of sacrifice shared a common ground: renunciation, silence, and the transformation of the female body into a symbol of sacred obedience.
With this experience, we return to the hotel carrying with us the historical and spiritual essence of Arequipa. Or stop on a restaurant to enjoy a delicius meal (not included in this itinerary)
Note: The original mummy is not on display; a replica is exhibited instead, out of respect for human remains.

The route crosses the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where vicuñas are often seen roaming freely and the vast open landscapes of the high puna unfold, with volcanoes and snow-capped mountains on the horizon.
Upon arrival in the valley, lunch will be served on Mamayacchi Restaurant.

Time to check in and meet, relax or explore the area prior meeting in the dining room for a welcome drink and dinner close to the fire place.
The day begins early, aiming to reach areas where condors often take advantage of the canyon’s air currents. It’s important to remember that nature cannot be scheduled—the condor may appear or not, and this uncertainty is part of the learning and meaning of the encounter.
A walk of approximately one hour follows the edge of the canyon, allowing time to take in the vastness of the landscape and moments of quiet contemplation over the valley. If nature allows, you may witness condors soaring along the rock walls.
On the way back, there is a stop at the Puqro Viewpoint, followed by a gentle walk to the picturesque village of Pinchollo, will be a good moment to spot different species of cactus and andean flora.
