About your trip
From Quito, the Andes mountains and volcanoes flank the east and west valleys. Just outside the capital city it is possible to reach some of the most biodiverse native forests and ecosystems of the Andes, the longest mountain range in the world!
This is a full day excursion to the north west of Quito, into the Pacific Tropical Forests, the Choco Biosphere Reserve.
The Pacific Cloud Forest
From Quito at an elevation of 2,850 m - 9,350 ft, one of the highest national capital cities in the world, we will descend towards the Mindo valley, located at an elevation of roughly 4,200 feet - 1,300 meters. The area is known for its high biodiversity, with a mix of cloud forests.
We will visit and experience a hummingbird reserve surrounded by cloud forests, a fantastic butterfly farm, enjoy a chocolate workshop and have lunch at a picturesque town before heading back to Quito.
