Communication with travel operators not too clear but we got things sorted in the end. WAITA ecolodge was a bit run down - door latches falling off; hot/warm shower non-existent (in our room); railings needed on steps in places. I think most guests would have appreciated milk in any shape or form. (Powdered probably being the best/only option.) WAITA STAFF - EXCEPTIONAL! DIEGO the tour guide: what a man! Passionate about the environment; knowledgeable on all aspects of the jungle, both on the water and jungle walks; mindful of safety at all times; articulate in English and his love for his job shined - he was an absolute joy to be around. BONITO, BETO and HECTOR fantastic gentlemen. They were totally dedicated to their individual jobs and it showed! How Hector navigated those Amazon waterways I’ll never know, but he’s a craftsman in the canoes! Bonito the ‘go to’ man and house man continually cleaned up after us; and Beto produced some extraordinary wholesome meals the entire five days. We really enjoyed our trip to Waita Lodge, and we're very fortunate with the birds and other animals that we saw during our four night stay. The food was nice and the portion sizes were good. Our guides were all very helpful. Our only criticism would be the communication on timings and travel. Prior to booking I was explicitly told we would be picked up on the 23rd, only to find out after booking that the bus would come on the 22nd. Similarly, we were told that we would arrive back into Quito on the 28th and only found out on our last day that it would actually be the day earlier. This meant we had to hastily book extra accommodation on the bus back to Quito. However, communication aside I would highly recommend this trip and we were very grateful to Anshie, Rita, Alex and Juan for making our stay so memorable!

The cabins were quite old and needed renovation. Especially bathrooms. Seems like there isnt too much animals living on that area or they were far away. Guide was informative and there was lot to do so days went by quickly. There wasnt really interaction with indigenous people who I understood own the place, which I think would have been good.

We had a wonderful time at Waita Lodge. All of the staff were so welcoming and helpful, and and our guide, Diego, truly went above and beyond to find the animals we most wanted to see. We observed river dolphins, several species of monkeys, lots of amphibians and reptiles, and some amazing birds, among other things! Huge thanks to the staff for such a fantastic five days. We will recommend to all our friends!
