 Arrival in Mexico City. You will be welcomed by your professional naturalist tour guide. Transfer to ´Catedral hotel´ or similar. Once in the hotel, you´ll get a briefing. Your guide likes to tell you more about the activities and security. Besides your guide will tell some fun facts about the Monarch Butterfly tour in Mexico. 

 First visit the Anthropology Museum, one of the world’s finest archaeological museums with a huge collection of artifacts in 23 exhibition halls. Its most famous exhibit is the Aztec sun stone, a cosmological calendar. Afterwards we will departure to Valle de Bravo. This magical town surrounded by mountains is considered as the most important tourist destination thanks to its excellent hotels, restaurants, equestrian club, beautiful golf courses and manmade lake. Check in at the “Mesón de las Leyendas” hotel or Similar.

Today you will experience one of the most remarkable wildlife migrations in the world within the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Each winter, millions of Monarch butterfly travel thousands of kilometers from Canada and the United States to overwinter in the cool mountain forests of central Mexico.

Upon arrival at the reserve, begin the ascent into the forest either by horseback or on foot. Trails wind through high-altitude oyamel fir forests, the unique ecosystem that provides the precise temperature and humidity conditions needed for the butterflies to survive the winter months.

At the colony area, observe thousands of monarch butterflies resting in dense clusters on tree branches. When warmed by sunlight, they take flight in spectacular waves of orange and black, filling the forest canopy.

Return to Valle de Bravo in the afternoon.

Today you will explore another area within the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, allowing you to experience different landscapes and colony conditions.

The journey again leads into mountain forests where vast numbers of Monarch butterfly gather during the winter season. Walking through the quiet forest trails, visitors can hear the subtle sound created by millions of wings moving through the trees.

Your guide will explain the fascinating biology of the monarch migration, the delicate ecological balance required for their survival, and the community-based conservation initiatives that help protect this unique natural phenomenon.

Return to Valle de Bravo in the afternoon.

 Free day to enjoy the area of Valle de Bravo. Life´s here (literally) built around the lake. The waters of Valle de Bravo are calm and ideal for sports like sailing, water-skiing or kayaking. Enjoy you free afternoon, and pick an activity which you like. Tonight we stay at ¨hotel Mesón de las Leyendas¨ or similar, for one more night. 

 Take your time and relax in the morning. Later, we go back to Mexico City and check in at the Catedral hotel.

The last day of the Monarch Butterfly tour in Mexico. Transfer to airport for your flight back.
