Welcome to Sistours: A Journey Through the Silk Road


I'm thrilled to invite you to our next unforgettable ladies-only adventure — a journey through the heart of Uzbekistan. 

We'll explore the vibrant capital city Tashkent, uncover the mesmerising blue domes of Samarkand, wander the ancient streets of Bukhara, and step back in time in the walled city of Khiva.


This immersive trip is designed for women who love culture, history, connection, and discovery. Expect warm hospitality, colourful bazaars, majestic architecture, and enriching experiences shared with like-minded women.


Join us as we walk in the footsteps of traders, poets, and emperors along the legendary Silk Road.


Please note, rooms are based on double sharing with another sister, if no rooms are available to share, you will need to purchase the single supplement add on, please be aware of this at your time of booking. If there is nobody available to share with, I will reach out to you to make this arrangement to pay for the single supplement for the duration of the trip.

Passport validity requirements

To enter Uzbekistan, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the date you arrive.

Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.

You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document, or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.


 

Visa requirements

You can visit Uzbekistan without a visa for tourism or business for up to 30 days from the United Kingdom, and certain other countries. Please check the visa requirements from your country of travel.

Day 1

Arrival-Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Welcome to Uzbekistan. 


You'll be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel to rest until the welcome dinner. Relax and recover from your flight, we have a jam packed itinerary ahead of us.


Timings may be affected by all arrivals at the airport. Bear with us!

Day 2

Tashkent City Tour

After breakfast at your hotel, we'll embark on a day tour of Tashkent City.


This includes:


Khast Imam complex- one of the spiritual monuments of Tashkent.

Barak-Khan madrassah- the repository of one of the most valuable relics of Islam - the Quran of the Caliph Osman. 

Shashi Mausoleum- commemorates the life of Abu Bakr Mohammed Kaffal Shashi, a native poet, linguist, polymath, and scholar who lived in the 10th century.

Tashkent Metro- the the first metro built in Central Asia. Uniquely beautiful with numerous distinctive features, Tashkent metro is considered one of the most fascinating metros in the world.  

We'll stop for a hearty lunch at Besh Qozon where you can see your meal of Plov being prepared on a huge scale!

There will be stops for dhur and asr prayers


Shopping in Chorsu Bazaar to purchase traditional clothing, nuts and spices.

Be prepared for the hustle and bustle of this most famous bazaar,  one of the best places to see daily life in Uzbekistan and the best market in Tashkent. 


Today we board our flight to Urgench.

Day 3

Khiva

 Our day starts with breakfast at the hotel and a morning of sightseeing in Khiva.


You'll hear stories of the scholars from this region, such as the brilliant scientist Al-Khorezmi, who invented algebra. And Al Biruni, an astronomer, mathematician, and philosopher, who studied physics and natural sciences.  


These scholars played a significant part in mathematical and scientific research.


We'll have a walking tour of the old part of the city to see the following:


Konya Ark Fortress -  the citadel in the Itchan Kala, the historic old town of Khiva.

Kurinish Khana (throne room).

Mohamed Amin Khan Madrassah- built in 1851-1854 by the order of Khiva ruler Muhammad Amin-khan and was named after him.

Islam Khoja Minaret- the tallest structure in old Khiva, its height is 56.6 meters, and  is the second highest minaret in Central Asia. 

Uch Avlioli Mausoleum- the "Three Saints Mausoleum",  dedicated to three 16th-century farming brothers whose fields were saved when they prayed for rain.


Jami mosque- a 10th–18th century mosque in Khiva, Uzbekistan. It is one of the principal monuments of Itchan Kala, the walled old city of Khiva.

Kutlug Murad Inak Madrassah-built in 1809, during the reign of Khan Muhammad Rakhim 


We'll have lunch and also have some free time to explore.

Day 4

Travel to Bukhara

An early start after breakfast we'll hit the road and drive to Bukhara. 


A scenic route with a lunch stop on the way, we'll be on the road for around seven hours.

We'll arrive at our hotel, check in and rest.

Meals: breakfast and lunch.

Day 5

Day 5 image

Bukhara

We'll start with breakfast and spend the morning sightseeing Bukhara

This includes:


Bahauddin Architectural Complex -includes the tomb of Baha-ud-Din Naqshbandi Bukhari, the founder of the Naqshbandi order, who died in 1389. 

9th-10th century Ismael Samani Mausoleum- This mausoleum in Samani Park, completed in 905, is the town's oldest Muslim monument. 

Chor Minor- a small but beautiful four minaret madrasa/mosque in the outskirts of the Bukhara old town 

14th century Chashma Ayyub Mausoleum- Originally believed to contain the mausoleum of the Prophet Ayyub.

Registan Ensemble:

Bolo Hauz complex- The Bolo Hauz is a Friday mosque, large enough to host the special noon jumu'ah prayers for a large percentage of the population 

Po-i Kalyan minaret- The Kalyan Minaret is a minaret of the Po-i-Kalyan mosque complex in Bukhara, and one of the most prominent landmarks in the city 

Madrassah Mir-i-Arab- considered the center of Islamic spiritual education, prominent spiritual figures and muftis studied within its walls. 


We'll have a hands on Plov making experience today.

Dhur and asr prayers at Po-i-Kalyan mosque or another historic mosque.


Free time for souvenir shopping.

Day 6

Bukhara-Gijduvon- Samarkand

After breakfast, we check out today and drive to Gijduvon a small town 46km from Bukhara. 

A city renowned for its ceramics and shashlik shish kebab.

We'll experience some pottery painting in Gijduvon.


After a spot of lunch, we continue our drive to Samarkand


Check in and rest after the day's drive.

Day 7

Samarkand

We'll have breakfast and spend the day sightseeing around Samarkand


Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum- A brick mausoleum, dated 1380 and possibly the city's oldest surviving monument, was renovated in 2015 and now serves as a souvenir and craft shop. 

Registan Square- an ensemble of majestic madrassahs including Tilya-Kori Madrasah with stunning azure mosaics in an expansive plaza setting, one of the most dazzling Silk Road sites. 

We'll stop for short calligraphy taster session with a renowned teacher of this art.

Bibi Khanum Mosque- one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in the Islamic world. It is considered a masterpiece of the Timurid Renaissance. 

Siyob Bazaar- a vibrant marketplace where you can explore a wide range of goods. 


Stop for lunch and also free time for you to shop and explore the rich surroundings.


Maybe catch the light show in Registan square this evening?

Day 8

Samarkand-Tashkent

After a hearty breakfast we will see more of Samarkand today.


Shah-i-Zinda Complex- a 7th century Timurid-era necropolis built near the burial site of Kusam ibn Abbas, a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)

Konigil Eco Village-to see the process of making Samarkand paper, which was used for Mushafs and other books, a unique place for unique handicrafts


We'll stop for lunch and then take the bullet train Afrosiab to Tashkent

Day 9

Chimgan mountains

After breakfast we set off for the Chimgan mountains, a scenic area in the Western Tian Shan mountain range of Uzbekistan, about 80 kilometers east of Tashkent.


We'll enjoy a cable car ride at the Chinorkent resort and enjoy the  breathtaking beauty of the stunning mountains and lush landscapes surrounding us. 

You'll have a horse riding experience and love the views of the Charvak lake, the pearl of the Tien Shan Mountains.


We'll stop for lunch and then drive back to Tashkent

Day 10

Tashkent to home

 After an early breakfast, we'll transport you to the airport for your flight home.
