About this trip

Imagine the possibility of living within nature and protecting the most ancient and wonderful animals of the ocean. Be part of the solution in sea turtle conservation strategies while experiencing an authentic immersion in a community surrounded by biodiversity and exuberance. Live the jungle up close and enjoy the wonders that the land of the volcanos offers. All with a granchild you will make memories with to last a lifetime!

Week 1: Volunteer with a local conservation project and Week 2: Explore two ecotourism hot spots: La Fortuna & Monteverde.

Nesting season for turtles on the Pacific Coast is commonly between July and December. This is when the turtles come ashore to lay eggs on the beach. Please remember that the turtles are wild animals and sightings are never guaranteed, even during nesting season. The projects operate year round and vital work is always being carried out to support the conservation of the animals and their environment. In this unique experience, you'll be hands-on in the protection of marine and terrestrial life resources such as night patrols, beach cleanups, reforestation and more. Work varies.

What an experience! Excellent itinerary to cater for many varieties of activities. Also allowed for flexibility when the need arose. Kim and Elisha were great hosts - nothing was too much trouble. They both have an excellent manner in communicating with the group and were relaxed and fun loving. Kim’s local knowledge was very helpful. Accommodation was ideal at each destination and the food was delicious. It was fantastic to be away from mainstream tourism and really experience the true culture of Guatemala and Costa Rica! Pura Vida!

Transfers to Antigua from Guatemala were well organised and easy to find. The house we stayed in was comfortable and location ideal. Kim was a fantastic host, welcoming and very knowledgeable. Lots of fun and laughter. Would highly recommend!

Exceptional! Saw beautiful and interesting things that you won't always find on a Tourist map, so there were not a lot of tourists. Went to unique restaurants. Beautiful sights.
