Cocktails Along the French Riviera

Welcome to the dazzling French Riviera, where the Mediterranean glistens in every shade of blue and life seems to unfold at a slower, more elegant pace. Your journey begins in the enchanting seaside village of Villefranche-sur-Mer, one of the Côte d'Azur's best-kept treasures. Tucked between Nice and Monaco, this colorful harbor town has captivated artists, writers, and travelers for centuries with its pastel facades, winding medieval streets, waterfront cafés, and one of the most beautiful natural harbors in the Mediterranean. It offers everything we love about the Riviera, but in a setting that feels intimate, authentic, and wonderfully unhurried.

Unlike some of the Riviera's larger and more glamorous destinations, Villefranche-sur-Mer invites you to slow down. Wander through its charming alleyways, enjoy a leisurely glass of rosé overlooking the fishing boats, or simply watch the world drift by from the waterfront. It's the perfect backdrop for the kind of experience we've carefully designed, where incredible food, local culture, genuine hospitality, and meaningful connections take center stage.

For the next two nights, our home will be the beautiful Welcome Hotel, an iconic waterfront property that has been welcoming guests since 1710. Perched directly on the harbor, this historic boutique hotel has hosted legendary figures including Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso, and Winston Churchill, while remaining one of the Riviera's most beloved hidden gems. Every room offers breathtaking views across Villefranche's spectacular bay, allowing you to wake each morning to fishing boats, sparkling turquoise waters, and the timeless charm of the Mediterranean. The Welcome Hotel perfectly captures the relaxed sophistication and authentic spirit that define this extraordinary corner of France. (Welcome Hotel)

As the sun begins to set over the harbor, we'll gather for our Welcome Meet & Greet Cocktail Reception, where you'll meet your hosts, Chef Nico Abello, and Chef Richard Gruica, along with your fellow travelers. It's the perfect opportunity to raise a glass, get to know one another, hear about the exciting week ahead, and officially begin what promises to be an unforgettable culinary adventure through the French Riviera and Italy's enchanting Riviera del Fiori.

The journey starts here, with good company, a glass in hand, and one of the most beautiful views in the Mediterranean.

Notes

  • Guests should plan to arrive in Villefranche-sur-Mer no later than Saturday, May 22nd.

  • This evening serves as our informal Welcome Meet & Greet.

  • The official tour begins on Sunday morning, May 23rd.

  • Accommodations for Saturday night (and any earlier nights you choose to arrive) are the responsibility of each guest and are not included in the tour package. We highly recommend arriving a day or two early to shake off jet lag and enjoy this magical seaside village before our adventure officially begins.

Monaco, Coastal Roads & Riviera Glamour

Monaco, Coastal Roads & Riviera Glamour

Day 1-Sunday, May 23rd, 2027

Monaco, Coastal Roads & Riviera Glamour

Our first official day together sets the tone for everything that makes the French Riviera so unforgettable. Today is a celebration of breathtaking scenery, timeless elegance, fascinating history, and the effortless Mediterranean lifestyle that has enchanted travelers, artists, royalty, and dreamers for generations.

Our adventure begins in the dazzling Principality of Monaco, one of the world's most iconic destinations. Though famously associated with wealth and glamour, Monaco is much more than luxury boutiques and superyachts. Hidden behind its glittering façade lies a remarkably beautiful old town where centuries of history unfold through cobblestone streets, colorful homes draped in flowers, charming cafés, and panoramic terraces overlooking the brilliant blue Mediterranean.

Our private guided walking tour begins atop Monaco-Ville, affectionately known as The Rock, allowing us to experience the principality exactly as it should be discovered. As we wander its narrow medieval lanes, you'll visit the magnificent Prince's Palace, home of the Grimaldi family for more than seven centuries, admire the peaceful beauty of Saint Nicholas Cathedral, and pause at spectacular viewpoints where the entire Riviera stretches before you. Every turn reveals another postcard-worthy scene, offering a side of Monaco that feels wonderfully authentic, romantic, and steeped in history.

From here, our walk gradually descends toward the legendary Port Hercule, one of the most recognizable harbors in the world. With every step, Monaco slowly unveils itself below. Gleaming superyachts, elegant Belle Époque architecture, Formula One streets, luxury hotels, and the sparkling Mediterranean come together in a breathtaking panorama that perfectly captures the spirit of the Côte d'Azur.

Along the waterfront, we'll stroll the marina promenade, admire some of the world's most extraordinary yachts, explore portions of the famous Monaco Grand Prix circuit, and soak in the unmistakable energy that has made Monaco synonymous with sophistication and style.

The afternoon offers guests the opportunity to tailor their experience.

Automobile enthusiasts may join us for a visit to Prince Rainier III's extraordinary Automobile Collection, an impressive showcase of vintage royal automobiles, rare European classics, legendary Formula One race cars, and fascinating pieces of Monaco's rich racing heritage.

Those wishing to embrace Monaco at a more leisurely pace are free to explore elegant Monte Carlo on their own. Sip champagne or cocktails overlooking the famed Casino Square, browse designer boutiques, wander immaculate gardens, discover hidden cafés, or simply enjoy watching the world pass by in one of Europe's most glamorous settings.

Just when you think the day couldn't become any more memorable, the Riviera reveals another surprise.

We'll climb aboard the wonderfully unique NiceCar Experience, one of the most entertaining ways to discover the Côte d'Azur. These charming open-air two-seat vehicles invite us to become part of the landscape rather than simply passing through it. As we follow spectacular coastal roads carved between the mountains and the sea, every curve reveals another breathtaking vista. Turquoise waters shimmer beside us, picturesque villages cling to the hillsides above, and the warm Mediterranean breeze reminds us that this is exactly how the Riviera was meant to be experienced.

It's playful. It's exhilarating. It's beautifully scenic. And it transforms the journey itself into one of the highlights of the day.

As evening settles over the coastline, we'll return to the charming harbor village of Villefranche-sur-Mer, where we'll gather for our first dinner together. Surrounded by colorful waterfront buildings, gently bobbing fishing boats, and the glow of the Mediterranean at sunset, we'll toast to the beginning of an extraordinary week filled with unforgettable meals, remarkable people, spectacular scenery, and the countless moments that make a Gourmet Vacation so much more than simply a trip.

Day 2-Monday, May 24th, 2027

Through the Alps & Hidden Villages: The Train of Wonders Experience 🚞⛰️✨

After yesterday's Riviera glamour, today invites us to discover an entirely different side of Southern France, one that few visitors ever experience. Leaving behind the glittering coastline, we'll journey deep into the heart of the Maritime Alps aboard one of Europe's most spectacular and underrated rail adventures: the Train des Merveilles, or the "Train of Wonders."

Originally built as an extraordinary engineering achievement connecting the French Riviera with the mountains bordering Italy, this historic railway climbs from sea level into a dramatically different world. Over the course of the journey, the landscape transforms before your eyes in a way that almost feels cinematic. Palm trees and Mediterranean villas gradually give way to dense forests, cascading rivers, soaring limestone cliffs, ancient stone bridges, and charming mountain villages that seem suspended in time.

The route itself is nothing short of remarkable. Stretching through nearly 80 tunnels, crossing countless bridges and viaducts, and winding gracefully along cliffsides and river valleys, the Train des Merveilles offers breathtaking panoramas at every turn. Each bend in the track reveals another unforgettable view, from dramatic gorges carved by centuries of rushing water to peaceful alpine meadows dotted with grazing sheep and centuries-old churches perched high above the valley floor.

What makes this experience so special isn't simply where we're going, but how we get there.

This is slow travel at its very best.

Rather than rushing from destination to destination, today encourages us to relax into the rhythm of the journey. Settle into your seat, watch the scenery unfold through panoramic windows, sip a coffee, chat with Chef Nico, Chef Richard, and your fellow travelers, and simply enjoy the changing landscapes that tell the story of Southern France far beyond its glamorous coastline. It's the kind of day that reminds us that sometimes the journey itself becomes the destination.

Our adventure takes us into one of the region's enchanting mountain villages, where life continues at a wonderfully unhurried pace. Here, narrow stone streets, flower-filled balconies, centuries-old fountains, and welcoming village squares create the perfect setting to experience authentic rural Provence and the Alps. Far removed from the bustle of the Riviera, these villages offer a glimpse into a France that has remained beautifully preserved for generations.

We'll enjoy a leisurely countryside lunch featuring regional specialties, local wines, and the warm hospitality for which these mountain communities are known. It's the perfect opportunity to slow down, savor the flavors of the region, and appreciate the quieter side of French life.

Following our time in the village, we'll board the train once again for the equally spectacular return journey toward the Mediterranean. Watching the mountains gradually give way to the sea offers a beautiful reminder of the incredible diversity packed into this remarkable corner of France, where alpine peaks and azure coastlines exist just a few hours apart.

Upon our return to Villefranche-sur-Mer, the remainder of the evening is yours to enjoy. Wander along the waterfront as fishing boats gently rock in the harbor, discover a cozy wine bar tucked into the old town, enjoy dinner at one of the village's inviting seaside restaurants, or simply relax on your balcony as the Mediterranean glows beneath the evening sky.

Today is less about checking off famous landmarks and more about immersing yourself in the rhythm, beauty, and quiet magic of Southern France. It's a day of discovery, reflection, and unforgettable scenery that many travelers never realize exists just beyond the Riviera.

Day 3-Tuesday, May 25th, 2027

Èze, Menton & the Art of Riviera Living 🍋🌊✨

Today is a celebration of everything that has made the French Riviera legendary for centuries. Picture medieval villages suspended above sapphire waters, Michelin-starred cuisine overlooking the Mediterranean, fragrant lemon groves kissed by the sea breeze, and a graceful transition into the timeless elegance of the Italian Riviera. This is a day where every stop feels like a scene from a classic film, each one more captivating than the last.

Our morning begins in the enchanting hilltop village of Èze, one of the Côte d'Azur's true jewels. Perched high above the Mediterranean on a rocky promontory, this impossibly beautiful medieval village has remained remarkably unchanged for centuries. As we wander its winding cobblestone lanes, ivy-covered stone buildings, charming artisan boutiques, hidden courtyards, and flower-filled passageways, it becomes easy to understand why artists, writers, and royalty have long sought inspiration here.

Around every corner, breathtaking panoramas unfold as the brilliant blue Mediterranean stretches endlessly toward the horizon. Èze is more than simply beautiful. It is romantic, peaceful, and effortlessly elegant, capturing the very soul of the French Riviera.

🍽️ Lunch at the Legendary La Chèvre d'Or

Awaiting us at the summit is one of the most extraordinary culinary experiences of our journey. Nestled within the ancient village walls, La Chèvre d'Or is more than a 2 Michelin-starred restaurant. It is one of the most iconic dining destinations in all of France.

Here, we'll indulge in an exquisite tasting menu that celebrates the finest ingredients of the Mediterranean with artistry, precision, and imagination. Each course is thoughtfully crafted, each bite telling its own story, while floor-to-ceiling views overlook the shimmering Côte d'Azur far below. Between the extraordinary cuisine, impeccable service, and one of the most spectacular dining terraces in Europe, this promises to be one of those unforgettable meals that guests will remember long after the final course has been served.

Following our leisurely lunch, we continue east along one of Europe's most breathtaking coastal roads to the sun-drenched town of Menton, affectionately known as The Pearl of France.

For Chef Nico, this is much more than another beautiful stop along the Riviera. Menton and the surrounding coastline were an important part of his youth, where countless days were spent exploring its markets, beaches, cafés, and hidden corners. These experiences helped shape his appreciation for Mediterranean cuisine, local ingredients, and the relaxed Riviera lifestyle that continues to influence him today. Sharing Menton with our guests is deeply personal, making it one of the destinations he was most excited to include on this journey.

Bathed in more sunshine than almost anywhere else on mainland France, Menton enjoys a unique microclimate that has made it world-famous for its extraordinary citrus. Here, lemons are more than simply fruit. They are woven into the town's history, architecture, traditions, and cuisine, celebrated each year during its famous Lemon Festival, and cherished by chefs throughout France.

We'll visit one of Menton's celebrated citrus estates, where fragrant groves of lemons, oranges, mandarins, and rare citrus varieties perfume the air. As we stroll through the orchards, we'll discover how generations of growers transformed this fertile coastline into one of the Riviera's most treasured agricultural regions, while learning why Menton's prized lemons have become synonymous with exceptional quality and flavor.

Afterward, we'll experience Menton through Chef Nico's eyes. Wander the pastel-colored Old Town as it tumbles gracefully toward the sea, admire its elegant Belle Époque architecture, browse charming artisan boutiques, sip an espresso in a sunny piazza, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll along the palm-lined promenade where France quietly begins to blend into Italy. With its unmistakable fusion of French sophistication and Italian warmth, Menton offers an atmosphere unlike anywhere else on the Riviera.

For Chef Nico, this isn't simply another destination on the itinerary. It's an opportunity to welcome you into a place filled with memories, inspiration, and a genuine sense of home. For our guests, it becomes a rare chance to experience one of the Riviera's most enchanting towns alongside someone who knows and loves it intimately.

As the afternoon unfolds, we cross the border into Italy, where a new chapter of our Riviera adventure begins.

Our home for the next several days is the magnificent Grand Hotel del Mare Resort & Spa, an elegant five-star sanctuary perched dramatically above the Ligurian Sea. Surrounded by lush Mediterranean gardens and breathtaking coastal vistas, this legendary retreat embodies the timeless glamour of the Italian Riviera while offering every modern comfort imaginable.

Here, the rhythm of the journey begins to soften. The pace slows, inviting us to embrace the art of la dolce vita. Long lunches become longer conversations. Aperitivos linger as the sun melts into the sea. Evenings are spent listening to the gentle rhythm of the waves from our balconies or strolling through beautifully manicured gardens overlooking the coast.

This is luxury without pretense. Beauty without hurry. And the perfect setting to immerse yourself completely in the romance, elegance, and unforgettable charm of the Riviera.

Wine, Dolceacqua & Embracing La Dolce Vita 🍷🌿✨

By now, you've begun to settle into the rhythm of the Riviera, where life isn't measured by the hour, but by the moments. Today is intentionally designed as a gentle pause, an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and fully embrace the effortless elegance that defines this remarkable corner of the Mediterranean.

Rather than filling every minute with sightseeing, today celebrates one of the Riviera's greatest luxuries: time.

The morning and early afternoon are yours to enjoy at your own pace in the beautiful surroundings of the Grand Hotel del Mare Resort & Spa. Sleep in a little longer, savor an unhurried breakfast overlooking the Ligurian Sea, indulge in a treatment at the spa, or simply find a comfortable lounge chair by the pool and let the Mediterranean breeze work its magic.

This is your opportunity to experience the Italian philosophy of dolce far niente, "the sweetness of doing nothing." It's a cherished way of life here, reminding us that some of the most memorable travel moments come not from rushing between destinations, but from allowing ourselves to simply be present.

Whether you choose to relax poolside with a good book, enjoy the resort's world-class wellness facilities, stroll the beautifully landscaped gardens, or sip an aperitivo while gazing out across the sparkling coastline, today is yours to enjoy exactly as you wish.

As the afternoon begins to soften into evening, we venture into the rolling hills just beyond the coast for a wonderfully intimate wine experience at Foresti, a small, family-owned winery where generations of passion, tradition, and hospitality are poured into every bottle.

Far removed from large commercial wineries, this charming estate offers an authentic glimpse into Ligurian winemaking. We'll be welcomed like old friends as we explore the vineyards and cellar, learning about the region's unique terroir and the family's dedication to preserving local varietals.

Our tasting features five carefully selected regional wines, each thoughtfully paired with local artisan cheeses, cured meats, and seasonal specialties that beautifully reflect the flavors of the Italian Riviera. More than a wine tasting, this is an opportunity to slow down, share stories, ask questions, and experience the genuine warmth of Italian hospitality in one of the region's hidden gems.

From the vineyard, we continue to one of Liguria's most enchanting medieval villages: Dolceacqua.

Often described as one of Italy's most beautiful hidden treasures, Dolceacqua seems untouched by time. Its narrow stone lanes wind beneath ancient archways, ivy climbs weathered facades, flower-filled balconies spill over centuries-old buildings, and tiny artisan shops invite quiet exploration around every corner.

At the heart of the village stands the magnificent medieval bridge that so captivated Claude Monet during his visits that he immortalized it in several paintings, describing the light here as unlike anywhere else. As the golden evening sun washes over the stone buildings and castle ruins above, it's easy to understand exactly what inspired him.

You'll have time to wander the village at your leisure, browse its charming boutiques, enjoy a leisurely gelato or espresso in the piazza, or join us for a relaxed stroll through the village as we uncover its fascinating history and timeless character.

Our evening concludes with dinner at the Michelin-recommended CASAeBOTTEGA, a restaurant that perfectly embodies the philosophy of modern Ligurian cuisine. Here, exceptional local ingredients, thoughtful creativity, and understated elegance come together to create a meal that feels both refined and wonderfully authentic.

Today isn't about checking landmarks off a list.

It's about lingering over a glass of wine just a little longer. Sharing conversations that stretch into the evening. Wandering medieval streets without looking at the time. Watching the Mediterranean light slowly fade as another unforgettable Riviera day comes to a close.

Because sometimes the greatest luxury isn't where you are.

It's having nowhere else you need to be.

Fragrance, Olive Groves & the Flavors of Provence 🌿🍷✨

Day 5-Thursday, May 27th, 2027

Fragrance, Olive Groves & the Flavors of Provence 🌿🍷✨

Today is a feast for the senses, where the fragrances of Provence, the flavors of the Mediterranean, and the beauty of the countryside come together to create one of the most immersive experiences of our journey. As we bid farewell to the Italian Riviera and make our way back into France, we'll discover that some of the region's greatest treasures are found not along the glamorous coastline, but tucked away among rolling hills, ancient olive groves, and fragrant gardens.

Our morning begins in the enchanting town of Grasse, universally celebrated as the Perfume Capital of the World. For more than three centuries, the world's greatest perfumers have come here in search of the extraordinary flowers, herbs, and botanicals that flourish in Provence's unique climate. Jasmine, rose, lavender, orange blossom, iris, mimosa, and countless aromatic plants have made Grasse the birthplace of many of history's most iconic fragrances.

Here, we'll enjoy an exclusive private experience at one of the region's renowned perfume houses, where the fascinating world of fragrance comes to life. Under the guidance of expert perfumers, you'll explore dozens of exquisite aromatic notes inspired by the landscapes of Southern France before creating your own signature perfume to take home. Balancing floral, citrus, herbal, woody, and spice notes, you'll discover how perfumers compose scents much like chefs compose a dish, blending individual ingredients into something harmonious, personal, and unforgettable.

This is far more than simply making perfume.

It's a deeply creative experience where fragrance becomes memory, allowing you to bottle the essence of the Riviera itself and carry a piece of this journey home with you long after your travels have ended.

Following time to stroll through Grasse's charming streets, artisan boutiques, and historic squares, we journey into the peaceful Provençal countryside for an experience that beautifully celebrates another of the Mediterranean's greatest treasures: olive oil.

Nestled among rolling hills sits a remarkable family-owned olive estate whose history stretches back to the 16th century. For generations, the land has produced exceptional olive oils while preserving the agricultural traditions that have shaped life in Provence for hundreds of years.

We'll gain a deeper appreciation for the remarkable journey from tree to bottle. You'll learn how climate, harvest timing, and production techniques influence flavor before enjoying a guided tasting of the estate's award-winning extra virgin olive oils, discovering the subtle nuances that distinguish exceptional olive oil much like a fine wine.

But this afternoon is about much more than tasting.

Rather than dining in a traditional restaurant, we'll gather together beneath the shade of centuries-old olive trees for a rustic countryside feast that perfectly captures the warmth and generosity of Provençal hospitality.

Freshly prepared rotisserie meats slowly roast over open flames while seasonal vegetables, rustic breads, vibrant salads, and regional specialties are shared family-style around the table. The estate's own olive oils take center stage alongside carefully selected local wines, creating a meal that celebrates the simple beauty of exceptional ingredients enjoyed in extraordinary surroundings.

There are no white tablecloths here.

Just the laughter of friends, the scent of lavender drifting through the air, glasses raised in celebration, and the timeless pleasure of sharing an unforgettable meal surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the French countryside.

As the afternoon draws to a close, we continue toward the sparkling Mediterranean and the elegant seaside town of Antibes, one of the Riviera's most beloved destinations. Blending the charm of a historic walled city with the sophistication of a world-famous yachting harbor, Antibes perfectly bridges old-world character and modern Riviera elegance.

Our home for the final chapter of our journey is the beautiful Hotel & Spa La Villa Port d'Antibes, a stylish boutique retreat ideally located just moments from the vibrant Old Town and picturesque waterfront.

After settling in and unwinding, we'll gather once again for sunset cocktails and light bites overlooking the Mediterranean, raising a glass as golden light dances across the sea and another unforgettable day comes to a close.

Today is a reminder that the Riviera is more than beautiful coastlines and glamorous villages.

It is a place where fragrance tells stories, olive trees preserve centuries of tradition, remarkable meals are shared beneath open skies, and every experience engages not just the eyes, but all the senses.

Today is a celebration of craftsmanship, friendship, and the beautiful way food has the power to connect people across generations and cultures. More than simply visiting places, today invites you behind the scenes to meet the passionate artisans who keep the culinary traditions of the Riviera alive. It is authentic, hands-on, and filled with the kind of personal experiences that define a Gourmet Vacation.

At the heart of today's adventure is our dear friend, Master Baker Jean-Paul, whose historic bakery has been nourishing the people of Antibes for generations. Stepping inside feels like entering another era, where the scent of freshly baked bread fills the air, flour dusts the wooden worktables, and traditional techniques continue to be practiced with the same care and patience as they were decades ago.

Jean-Paul welcomes us not simply as visitors, but as honored guests, sharing the stories behind his family, his bakery, and the traditions that have made bread one of the foundations of French life. As we sample some of his signature specialties fresh from the oven, we'll gain a deeper appreciation for the artistry, dedication, and passion hidden within something as seemingly simple as a loaf of bread.

Then it's time to roll up our sleeves.

Inside the bakery kitchen, Jean-Paul joins forces with Chef Nico Abello for a truly one-of-a-kind collaborative baking experience. Together, these two passionate craftsmen bring their individual backgrounds, philosophies, and expertise to the table, creating a workshop that is equal parts demonstration, storytelling, and shared inspiration.

Working side by side, they'll guide us through the creation of a remarkable bread inspired by Pablo Picasso, who famously lived and worked in nearby Antibes during one of the most creative periods of his life. Drawing inspiration from Picasso's artistic legacy and the region's culinary traditions, Jean-Paul and Chef Nico share not only the techniques behind the bread, but also the stories, history, and creativity that make it so unique.

Watching the two collaborate is an experience in itself. One brings the precision and patience of a lifelong artisan baker, while the other offers the creativity and perspective of a chef whose roots are deeply tied to this very coastline. Their mutual respect, friendship, and shared passion create an atmosphere that is both educational and wonderfully entertaining, offering guests a rare opportunity to witness two masters of their craft learning from one another while teaching us along the way.

Once our dough is carefully prepared and left to rise, we step away from the bakery and immerse ourselves in one of the Riviera's greatest daily traditions. Together, we'll wander through the vibrant Marché Provençal, Antibes' beloved covered market, where colorful displays of seasonal produce, fragrant herbs, artisan cheeses, cured meats, olives, spices, fresh seafood, and flowers create a feast for every sense. Here we'll experience the heartbeat of Provençal life while Chef Nico introduces many of the ingredients that have inspired his own cooking throughout the years.

Our time then takes a wonderfully spirited turn. Hidden within the winding streets of Old Antibes lies one of the Riviera's most fascinating and atmospheric destinations: the legendary Absinthe Bar.

Far more than a bar, this intimate venue serves as a living museum dedicated to the fascinating history of some of France's most iconic spirits. During this immersive tasting experience, we'll discover the centuries-old rituals surrounding absinthe, explore the botanical complexity of Chartreuse, and even create our own personalized blend of traditional pastis to take home.

Throughout the experience, thoughtfully paired local cheeses, charcuterie, olives, and regional delicacies transform the tastings into a progressive culinary journey, illustrating how food and spirits have long shared a place at the Mediterranean table.

Afterwards, we return to Jean-Paul's bakery after the doors have closed to the public, giving us exclusive access to experience it in an entirely different light.

Now quiet and intimate, the bakery becomes our private workshop once again. Together with Jean-Paul, we'll watch as the dough we crafted earlier in the day has transformed beautifully, ready to be baked in the very ovens that have served the community for generations. Few experiences are more satisfying than pulling your own freshly baked loaf from a traditional French oven, breaking into its warm crust, and tasting the fruits of your own hands.

But the day isn't quite finished. To celebrate this remarkable collaboration, Chef Nico and Jean-Paul come together once again, preparing dinner together. Their shared meal becomes a reflection of everything this journey is about: hospitality, generosity, local ingredients, craftsmanship, and the joy that naturally unfolds when talented people gather around a table. Set in a warm, relaxed atmosphere with rustic dishes, exceptional local wines, plenty of laughter, and stories flowing as freely as the wine, this collaborative dinner is less like dining in a restaurant and more like being welcomed into the home of old friends.

It's an evening that perfectly captures the spirit of the Riviera, where great food, meaningful conversation, and genuine human connection are always the finest ingredients.

A Riviera Farewell: Nice, Chef Nico's Riviera & One Last Toast 🌅🍷✨

Every unforgettable journey deserves a beautiful ending, and today is intentionally designed to let you savor every last moment along one of the world's most celebrated coastlines.

Rather than filling the day with a packed itinerary, we've chosen to embrace the slower rhythm that has become the heartbeat of our week together. It's a chance to revisit favorite flavors, soak in the Mediterranean sunshine one last time, and appreciate the simple elegance that makes the French Riviera so captivating.

After a leisurely breakfast, we'll bid farewell to Antibes and make our way to the vibrant city of Nice, where we'll check into our hotel for the final evening of our adventure.

While Nice is one of the Riviera's most celebrated destinations, today is less about checking off landmarks and more about experiencing the city through the eyes of Chef Nico Abello.

Throughout this journey, Chef Nico has welcomed us into the places that helped shape his life and culinary philosophy. We've wandered the villages where he spent his youth, visited the markets that inspired his appreciation for seasonal ingredients, explored the coastline that became his backyard, and shared meals that reflect the Mediterranean traditions he grew up with. Today offers one final opportunity to experience the Riviera not simply as visitors, but through the perspective of someone who proudly calls this remarkable region home.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy however you wish. Perhaps you'll lose yourself among the colorful streets of Vieux Nice, browsing artisan boutiques filled with Provençal linens, handmade soaps, gourmet delicacies, and treasures to bring home. Maybe you'll stroll through the lively markets, stopping for a final taste of local cheeses, olives, or pastries before enjoying an espresso at a tucked-away café.

Others may prefer to wander the legendary Promenade des Anglais, where palm trees sway above the sparkling Mediterranean and elegant Belle Époque architecture frames one of Europe's most iconic seaside boulevards. Relax at a beach club, enjoy one last glass of rosé overlooking the sea, or simply find a quiet bench and watch Riviera life unfold at its wonderfully unhurried pace.

For those who simply wish to slow down, today is the perfect opportunity to do exactly that. Wander wherever curiosity leads you. Discover hidden alleyways, browse local galleries, enjoy one last wine tasting, or revisit a favorite café. After all, one of the greatest gifts the Riviera has taught us is that the most memorable moments often aren't planned at all.

As the sun begins its slow descent toward the Mediterranean, we'll gather together one final time for our Farewell Dinner, raising a glass to an extraordinary week and the friendships, stories, and memories we've created together. Over exceptional cuisine and wonderful wines, we'll look back on everything we've shared: exploring the timeless streets of Monaco, dining high above the sea in Èze, discovering the hidden beauty of Menton through Chef Nico's childhood memories, winding through the Alps aboard the Train des Merveilles, sipping wines in family-owned vineyards, creating our own fragrances in Grasse, baking alongside Jean-Paul in Antibes, and experiencing the Riviera not simply as tourists, but as welcomed guests.

One of the greatest privileges of this journey has been experiencing the French and Italian Rivieras alongside Chef Nico. His personal connection to this coastline, its people, and its traditions transformed each destination from a beautiful place into a meaningful story. Whether revisiting the towns where he grew up, introducing us to lifelong friends and artisans, or sharing the flavors that shaped his culinary journey, he has given us something few travelers ever experience: the opportunity to see the Riviera through the eyes of someone who truly belongs here.

As the evening draws to a close and the lights begin to dance across the Baie des Anges, we'll raise one final toast, not to the end of the journey, but to everything we've discovered together. Because while the Riviera may now feel wonderfully familiar, the friendships forged around the table, the conversations shared over wine, and the memories created throughout this remarkable week are what will travel home with us.

Au Revoir, Until We Meet Again ✈️🌊✨

As every wonderful journey eventually must, our Spring Culinary Escape along the French and Italian Rivieras comes to a close. Over the past week, we've traveled far beyond the traditional tourist path. Together, we've wandered medieval villages perched high above the sea, cruised legendary coastal roads, dined in Michelin-starred restaurants overlooking the Mediterranean, sipped wines in family-owned vineyards, baked bread alongside master artisans, created fragrances in the perfume capital of the world, explored hidden mountain villages by train, and experienced the Riviera through the eyes of Chef Nico Abello, whose personal connection to this remarkable coastline transformed every destination into something deeply meaningful.

Along the way, we've shared unforgettable meals, discovered extraordinary local producers, met passionate craftspeople, and forged new friendships around tables filled with exceptional food, wonderful wines, and plenty of laughter. These are the moments that define a Gourmet Vacation, where the true souvenirs aren't found in shops, but in the experiences, stories, and connections we carry home.

As you leave the Riviera behind, we hope you'll take with you more than photographs. May you carry the scent of lavender drifting through Provence, the taste of fresh olive oil shared beneath ancient trees, the sound of waves gently meeting the shore, the warmth of Mediterranean hospitality, and the inspiration that comes from slowing down and truly experiencing a place through its people, traditions, and table.

From all of us at The Gourmet Vacation, and especially Chef Nico Abello and Chef Richard Gruica, thank you for allowing us to share this beautiful part of the world with you. It has been our privilege to host you, introduce you to dear friends and local artisans, and create memories that we hope will stay with you for years to come. The Riviera may be behind us, but we hope the friendships, conversations, and spirit of this journey continue long after you've returned home.

Until we gather again around another table, discover another hidden village, uncork another memorable bottle of wine, and set off on another unforgettable adventure...

Bon voyage, safe travels, and à bientôt. 🌿🍷✨
