Join Heart of Travel and Simoon Tours on an off-the-beaten-path adventure in Antigua Guatemala and surrounding areas! You will meet your guides at Simoon Tour's office at 9:00 am to sign some paperwork and do some training for the day's adventure. Be sure to bring a valid driver's license with you! Once everyone feels ready and confident we will hit the road!
The first stop on this tour is a village called San Juan del Obispo, which sits at the base of the Agua Volcano. In San Juan, we’ll visit a small chocolate factory where they show us part of their chocolate-making process and taste various flavors.
Once finished, we will visit the main plaza of the village, where we can get a nice view of Antigua before heading back down the mountain and crossing the entire city on our ATVs to get to the mountain town of El Hato, located on the north side of the valley. Our first stop will be ¨El Cerro de la Cruz¨ one of the best-known attractions in the city of Antigua, giving you a birds-eye view of colonial architecture as well as the surrounding volcanoes and mountains. From there, we will head to¨Hobbitenango¨ a lord of the rings-themed eco-park for some food, drinks, and fun. Our last stop is lunch. After lunch, we head back down the mountain on our ATVs to the ATV rental office in Antigua.
Duration of tour: 6 hours
What to wear/pack: We recommend wearing comfortable and breathable clothing and a pair of closed-toe shoes with a sturdy sole. The sun can be quite strong as well so sunscreen and/or a hat are also encouraged as is a light jacket as it can get windy in the mountains. Other useful items are an eco-friendly water bottle, sunglasses, binoculars, and a camera!
