In the morning, your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the "Itabaca Canal" will take you to North Seymour Island, which is a spectacular place to hike, swim and enjoy the snorkel.
On this island, you will see palo santo trees, colonies of blue-footed boobies performing their mating ritual in the open spaces of the island, the female booby is large and likes to chirp a little more than the male. Sometimes boobies nest right on the tourist trail, so you'll have to be a little careful not to step on them when walking. You will be able to see the nests of many of these species very close, such as seagulls, frigates, and yellow warblers.
Most Galapagos birds are not afraid of humans. On the other side of the island and while the waves crash on the rocks, you can also see the mischievous sea lions playing and surfing in the sea. North Seymour is practically flat and arid, with some vegetation including cacti, palo santo trees, and salt bushes.
The area of the islands is approximately 1.9 square kilometers and has a maximum altitude of 28 meters. North Seymour Island is located near Baltra Island (this is the arrival and departure island of the Galapagos). North Seymour was formed by an elevation of lava rocks under the ocean. Seymour Island is separated from Baltra Island by a small channel. The island is known as "Seymour Norte", while Baltra Island is also known as "Seymour Sur".
There is a circular trail on North Seymour Island about 2 kilometers long that crosses the interior of the island and allows you to explore the rocky shoreline. This trail will take you through some of the largest colonies in the Galapagos Islands. Once you have completed all the activities, you will stay in Puerto Ayora.
Departure time: 7:00 am - 7:30 am, Stops to pick up travelers at their hotels begin before this time. You should contact your local service provider to find out the exact time they pass your hotel.
Amazing trip! I was solo so was hesitant going somewhere I had no idea about but Eduardo was awesome and communicated with me the entire time. Wonderful island day trips and was able to see the wonders of these islands in just a week. Can’t wait to come back to explore more!
Positives: The guide and all the boat personell were great. The experience was amazing, getting a chance to see the island, the views, the snorkeling with penguins, turtles, octopi, black tip & white tip reef sharks, and many others. It was just the right amount of time in the water and hiking Bartolome. The guide had good info and led us to good things to see.
Opportunities: The tour could be cut by 2 hours if the boat to the island wasn't as slow as it was. The lunch options could have been explained better. I'm not a fan of ceviche and that was the only fish option. Not a grilled filet like on other tours. Just a side note, but on another tour on San Cristobal, all participants got GoPro video from all of our dive locations. The guide seemed to have a camera recording but not video was offered or sent. That would make it even better.
By Brian S for VISIT TO BARTOLOME ISLAND & SULIVAN BAY on Jan 26, 2025
NO RECOMENDADO, CUIDADO, ESTAFA.
The trip itself was fine but the organization was lacking.
We did not get any communication regarding pick up time or meeting place until I called the day prior. And it seemed as if they were not expecting us.
When we were dropped off at the port for the ferry to the speed boat to get to Isabela Island we were advised that the tour leader would have our names displayed.
The speed boat ride was very harsh and if I had any medical issues ... back sensitivity, this would have been a disaster.
Once on Isabela Island, our names were nowhere to be found and a tour leader had to call the tour operator who then added us to his list.
Once the land tour was completed by Victor, we were handed over to Andrea for the kayaking portion of the tour.
This felt out of sorts and we felt as if we were best being accommodated by Victor and Andrea as a stop gap measure.
This was very disappointing as this was the most costly all the tours we did in the 5 days we were in the Galapagos.
Would not use the services again or recommend them.
