Course Description:

This very special two hour Big Cat experiential learning program will have a small group, private guided behind the scenes tour of the big cat enclosures and a one hour Big Cat Keeper Program to learn about the diets, activities and lifestyles of Big Cats. 

We will learn from wild animal experts at the Central Florida Animal Reserve as they instruct us on big cat anatomy, habitats in the wild and in captivity, the social structures of cats and their importance in the animal kingdom. Students will participate in games and activities during the educational portion of the program. On our private guided tour of the cat enclosures we will meet the cats, see backstage, and learn about the care and feeding of 16 Apex Predators!  


Optional: Bring your own lunch for our “after the tour” picnic!

Program Time: 10:00 am to 12:30 pm (2 hours)

Learning Outcomes:

  • Biology, Zoology and Life Sciences. Learn animal anatomy, habitats, social structures and natural behaviors. Sanctuary care and the difference between artificial habitats and the wild will be covered. 

  • Ecology and Environmental Science. The ecological roles of big cats, food chains, habitat loss, and ecosystems discussed.

  • Conservation. Conservation status, endangered and threatened species of big cats due to poaching and habitat destruction.

  • Animal Welfare, Veterinary Science. Daily care practices, animal enrichment activities, diet preparation, enclosure design and maintenance. Long term sanctuary needs for animals that cannot be released. 

  • Ethics and ethical care. Human impact on wildlife, responsible stewardship.

Please wear closed toed shoes. All children must stay with a parent while touring the facility and respect the facility rules and regulations.

Tuition and Fees Schedule:

Students Ages 4 and up: $115

Adults: $75

(Payment plans available)

All travelers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 

Note: This is an indoors and outdoors activity and involves steps and gravel paths.  Please plan to dress appropriately for the weather and wear close toed shoes when instructed. 

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations received within 14 days of booking:

100% refund, less deposit.*

No refund after 14 days. 


We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we will always do our best to work with you! Sometimes we have a waiting list and can transfer your space to another family. However, once participants are booked and committed to our location partners, we cannot recover them after certain dates. This is why travel insurance is suggested to cover any unexpected events, and we’ll strive to transfer funds to other trips whenever possible. Deposit is not refundable.

Voucher Funds

This program is pending approval for Step-Up for Students in Florida and may qualify for other school voucher programs. No refunds will be issued as per SUFS policy.  All food, transportation, and hotel costs are paid for by the parent and not with scholarship funds. No refunds will be issued as per SUFS policy.
