Welcome to Placencia
Welcome the incredibly diverse and beautiful country of Belize, where the jungle meets the Caribbean Sea. Transfer from Belize City to the tropical Placencia Penninsula. Settle into our home for the week, a boutique resort featuring spacious treehouses just steps from the sea, surrounded by lush plants and tropical flowers. Spend time strolling the beach or taking a dip in the pool before we head into the town of Placencia for a magical welcome dinner, where we’ll get to know our new friends.

You will love the little slice of heave we will call home for the week, a small beachfront resort with amazing service. Our group will stay in spacious treehouses, tucked into the trees with all the modern amenities and private balconies. Steps from your treehouse there is a pool and swings resting over the ocean waves.

Monkeys & Food Tour
Monkey River Adventure and Placencia Food Tour
Breakfast
After a beautiful seaside breakfast, we will head out for an adventure.
Monkey River Boat and Jungle Hike
A boat will take us down the flourishing Monkey River. As we make our way through mangrove estuaries, keep your eyes peeled for manatee, crocodiles and tropical birds. We will then take a short hike into the jungle to look for monkeys and learn about jungle vegetation before enjoying a very local lunch in the village.

Slice of Paradise
Island Escape to Moho Caye and Snorkeling
Breakfast
After breakfast we will head out for an absolutely magical day.
Boat Trip to Moho Caye
A boat will take us to the 12-acre private island of Moho Caye where pristine beaches, crystal clear water and vibrant coral reefs await us. We will spend the day swimming, sunning and snorkeling.
Lunch
We will also have a special beachfront lunch cooked by our local guide.

Chocolate & Spices
Explore Mayan Cacao Farm and Spice Garden
Breakfast
Breakfast by the ocean before we depart for a full day of adventures in the lesser visited Southern part of the country, the jungle region of Toledo.
Visit Mayan Cacao Farm
Visit a Mayan cacao farm, learning cultivation and seeing how chocolate is made using heirloom tools.
Lunch
After a chocolate tasting, the 'Chocolate Queen' will prepare us a farm to table lunch.
Visit Spice Farm and Botanical Garden
Visit a working spice farm and botanical garden tucked into the rainforest. Walk jungle paths lined with vanilla and spices as we explore the grounds and hear the story behind this beautiful farm.
Return to Resort
Return for a relaxing evening at the resort.

Mayan Wonders
Explore Xunantunich Ruins and Mayan Coffee Farm
Breakfast
Early breakfast to go as we embark on a full day adventure to the Western part of Belize.
Visit Xunantunich Mayan Ruins
After a fun shopping stop along the way, our travels will bring us close to San Ignacio. Here we’ll have the very unique experience of crossing the Mopan River by hand-cranked ferry to reach the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich. We’ll climb ancient temples and take in sweeping jungle views. Keep your eyes open for monkeys and giant iguanas in this mystical place.
Visit Mayan Family Coffee Farm
After lunch, our group will head to a very off the beaten path coffee farm run by a Mayan family. Here we will learn about their traditional ways of living and growing coffee and we will have a hands on demonstration of how to grind coffee the way it has been done for centuries. This experience is more special than words can describe.
Return to Resort
After a long day, coming back to the relaxing resort will be the perfect way to end the evening.

Community Service and Farewell Celebration
Breakfast
Enjoy a final ocean view breakfast before savoring a relaxing morning. Kayak, read, paddle board, swim or walk the beach.

In the afternoon we’ll head to a local school for a beautiful opportunity to give back to the community that will touch your heart.
Farewell Dinner
In the evening, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner to celebrate a wonderful week filled with adventure and fun.

Private transfer will take us to the airport. Please note that there will be one organized transfer, so plan flights accordingly.

Passports:
Please be sure your passport is valid for 6 months after the trip is over.
Travel Insurance:
Travel insurance including emergency medical evacuation coverage is required for all Somewhere Sunny travelers. You may provide your own coverage or purchase coverage here.
Airports/Transfers:
Flights should be arranged to Belize City code: BZE. Please book your flight to arrive as early as possible
Please note that there will be one coordinated transfer for both arrival and departure to/from Belize City. Alternate arrival/departures are a separate cost

Physical Requirements:
Our trips are busy and high energy. You should be able to walk 10,000 plus steps a day on uneven terrain and be able to easily get in and out of boats. There is a short hike in the jungle on this trip and the option to climb ruins. We also spend a 1/2 day snorkeling.
