What to Expect:

The Setting: We'll be staying at YHA London Lee Valley, set within Lee Valley Regional Park. Surrounded by woodland, rivers and open green spaces, it's a peaceful base for a weekend of walking and relaxation while still being within easy reach of London.

Simple Accommodation: We'll stay in a lodge exclusive for the group at YHA Lee Valley. Most rooms will be shared (up to 4). The bedrooms are dormitory style rooms with bunk beds though the larger rooms will not be filled to capacity and every guest will have a bunk bed to themselves (top and bottom bunk). The location provides a comfortable and affordable base for the weekend.

Onsite Meals: The YHA team will provide catered meals from Friday dinner to Sunday breakfast. Expect simple, hearty food to keep you fuelled throughout the weekend. Dietary requirements can be catered for, just let us know when you register.

Guided Walk: Enjoy a guided walk through Lee Valley Regional Park led by Black Girls Hike. The walk will be at a relaxed pace with time to enjoy the surroundings and connect with the group.

Wellbeing Sessions: The weekend includes a caring and wellbeing workshop led by Paula Bryan (Co-Founder/CEO, Carers4Carers), offering space to reflect on the realities of caring and share practical ways to look after yourself. Carers4Carers is a Black-led social enterprise dedicated to improving the wellbeing of unpaid carers and their families.

You'll also take part in a wellbeing session with qualified clinical herbalist Cherrelle from Omolara Herbal. Drawing on the principles of herbal medicine and everyday wellbeing, Cherrelle will share practical ways to build simple, sustainable self-care practices that you can continue long after the weekend.

A Supportive Community: You'll be welcomed into a friendly and supportive group. There will be opportunities to get to know one another over shared meals, walks and relaxed downtime.
