While the trail through the forest yielded nothing, the main gardens were alive with several species of hummingbirds and many others.

I had been to Batsu gardens before, but this time it was even more wonderful. Being a dedicated and serious wildlife photographer (you can google my name Hennie van Heerden (www.flickr.com/photos/hvhe1) for reference) I enjoyed my stay at Batsu's tremendously. The setup is wonderful with lots of opportunities to photograph the different species of hummingbirds, as well as numerous species of tanagers, manakins, woodpeckers etc. The garden is well maintained and set up in a way that both birders and photographers can have a wonderful time alongside each other. Eduardo, the owner, is really forthcoming and helpfull. Be it in picking you up from your hotel and dropping you off again. And he is genuinly happy if you have a good time in his garden. So yes, I would recommend this visit wholeheartedly! If there, take your time and sit down. For serious photographers it is paradise, but even if you only bring your Iphone, I'm quite sure you'll come home with wonderful pictures as the hummingbirds are hovering just beside you.

Lovely environment with a large variety of birds to enjoy, with small trails around the jungle areas. Small refreshment area provided.
