About this trip

Join our first BLUE MOUNTAIN BLISS Tour in Jamaica! A special tour for nature and adventure lovers on a budget! Expect a rich experience and a variety of landscape. For 7 nights, we’ll take you across Portland and Kingston, exploring nature, culture and food!

We’ll begin the trip in Portland at Seacliff Resort (3 nights) and finish off in Kingston for (4 nights)

We’ll visit Kingston Central Masjid mosque, pray in peace, remember Allah, and enjoy an exquisite eight-course farm-to-table meal at Stush in the Bush organic farm. You’ll also have the opportunity to take in Jamaica’s unspoiled nature and swim in breathtaking waterfalls, beaches, and lagoons. We’ll hike up the famous Blue Mountains, where we’ll visit one of the island’s oldest Rasta communities and dissolve all ignorant misconceptions about the island and its proud people.

This won’t be about all-day tanning, beachside braids, and gift shop Rasta hats (not that there’s anything wrong with that); we just want to rejuvenate you in a different way. After all, we travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us, right? We want to share the glory, struggles, and beauty of this island- a BEAST of an island, as you will find out!

Please note that guest speakers can change due to unexpected circumstances. Burgundy Roots will guarantee optimum quality for its guest speakers. We ask for your flexibility and understanding.

for the last year, i have traveled far and wide as a way of healing the trauma/grief of my husband's Passing...this trip was by far the most healing, nourishing and replenishing of all the trips i have been on...EVERYTHING and i do mean EVERYTHING was an incredible experience...the places we ate were magical and delightful feast not only for the palate, but for the eyes and Spirit as well...the lodging was comfortable, serene and nice...and our group was incredibly harmonious, helpful and supportive...i personally felt safe, looked after and cared for the entire length of the trip...it was great meeting womyn from different parts of the world and that they are Muslim was a Blessed gift...if time and finances allow, i would definitely travel with Wafa/Burgundy Roots again and again...she knows well how to take care of her guests...ASANTE SANA!!! i THANK her for most glorious travel/healing experience...

My experience with Burgundy Roots on my first trip to Saudi Arabia was nothing short of exceptional. The curated travel itinerary, attention to detail, and seamless organization made every moment memorable. Wafa’s personalized care ensured everyone felt comfortable and well-guided throughout the journey. From exploring breathtaking sites to immersing in the local culture, everything was thoughtfully planned. One of the highlights was attending engaging classes led by Mustapha Briggs and other exceptional speakers. Everyone learned a great deal in a fun, interactive way that added depth to the cultural experience. Thanks to this incredible experience, I’m already looking forward to returning and discovering even more. I highly recommend Burgundy Roots to anyone seeking a top-tier travel adventure. Alassane N.

What a beautiful trip! Wafa brought together the perfect group of people to experience such a holy, peaceful and transformative place together. The trip was the perfect blend of time for worship, site seeing and free time. A huge thank you to our guides who made this trip phenomenal. In each city we went, we had the most passionate and knowledgeable guides who really brought the history and significance of the places we visited to life and walked us through the rites and rituals of Umrah, setting us up for success and allowing us to maximize our worship. It was also great having engaging evening classes with Sidi Mustafa and learning about the biography of the Prophet and his relationships with the Sahaba. I cannot wait to return on this trip soon!

This was my first umrah and I am thankful I took this trip with Wafa and her team. I had a wonderful experience and learned so much about the Prophet (pbuh) and his companions. I enjoyed all the trips we made throughout Madinah, Mecca, and Jeddah. My favourite experience was the visiting the date farm and the rawdah in Madinah. Honestly, Madinah has my heart! 💚 I love that we were able to visit so many significant sites and masjids within the 2 holy cities. It was a privilege to visit the cave that the Prophet (pbuh) rest his head and hand upon. Most importantly, Jeddah was the best place to end our tour of Saudia Arabia. Their traditional food was delicious, the locals were kind and welcoming, and their abayas were gorgeous and cheaper than Mecca and Madinah. This is a trip I will never forget! 🥰

ZERO STARS Had the WORSE experience with this company and host. I wish I could tell you what I didn't like about the trip...but I can't because it never happened. I booked an Egypt tour a full YEAR in advance, diligently payed all my payment installations, planned time + life off, payed for the visa etc. This was supposed to be my first solo trip as a Muslim woman as I had a strict upbringing where I wasn't allowed to travel alone. I was so excited, looking forward to making new Muslim friends and enjoy the comfort of being in such a faith-based travel arrangement. Then just 2 months before the trip was supposed to happen the host cancelled it for medical reasons. I'm not mad about the reason for the cancellation as life happens and I wished her well on that. No ... that's not it. It was the fact that I was going to be charged a large fee for either cancelling, changing or acquiring credit for my flight and my travel insurance would not cover it. Wafa had no idea when the trip was going to be rescheduled to! Making it impossible to know when to change it to or what to expect my year to look like by trying to plan my life around this 10 day trip (and still being charged a big fee). What a massive disappointment for me who was booking with this company for the first time. The cost of the retreat was refunded but I was left on my own to deal with the damages otherwise (flight fee if I cancelled/changed/received credit + travel visa) When I brought up my concerns with the host Wafa, she was "sympathetic" as first but refused to pay for any damages and gave a standard "we are not responsible for any charges related to flights" even though it was HER situation that caused the entire retreat to be cancelled. She got cold really quick when I expressed my disappointment and frustration. In fact, she ghosted the conversation and did not apologize for the mess she put me in and the anxiety and stress that this situation caused me. She could have had someone else on her team host it, but no. Apparently "the show must go on" does not exist with this unbelievably unprofessional team. She said her team wants to go only with her. So please know that this company is a one person show and if something happens then your trip WILL be cancelled and you'll be left to deal with the damages. If this happened to you, what would you think of Wafa and her company? Apparently 10 years in the industry and there was absolutely no preparation for this sort of unexpected event. And worse was her attitude towards me and my plight...there was nothing Muslim-like about her in that moment. Deeply disappointing. I endured so much stress and uncertainty about what to do but in the end I decided to keep my flight, hired a local tour company instead and had the time of my life by the grace of Allah. I'm glad I supported someone local who deserved it and actually needed the money instead of this entitled and unprofessional host. I was treated like a Queen, did and saw more things than this company offered, had many different hosts and drivers at my service that fit my schedule and needs, made lots of genuine Egyptian and fellow tourist friends, and had unparalleled guest service. As for Wafa, I will never book with her again no matter how good her retreats may be and I will never recommend her to anyone. Be very careful who you come across on social media even if influencers are endorsing them. You've been warned!

I traveled with Wafa to do the Umrah... That was such a good experience. This trip is definitely the best by far. She is so professional and a nice person. I definitely recommend it to everyone who wants an experience that could change their life in a good way, bring more love in their heart, a closer connection with God and the chance to meet extraordinary people.

I have been on two Burgundy roots trips so far and I must say, the itineraries are very well thought out. Wafa and her team pay attention to every detail and leave no stone unturned to ensure a truly unique, hands-off and stress-free experience for all attendees. You get to visit some hidden gems , spend time in nature, enjoy delicious food with amazing COMPANY and learn more about Islam while you’re at it. Such a beautiful, spiritually uplifting experience! BEST TRIP(S) EVER!
