About Meditation:
You’ve been told to “just breathe” a thousand times. But no one taught you how to breathe in a way that actually moves something.
The meditation we practice is designed to access the stress, tension, and old emotions your body has been storing, and helps you release them.
You may experience:
Stored tension and emotional weight finally released
Expanded lung capacity and a calmer nervous system
The ability to process emotions in your body rather than looping in your mind
A practice you can take home and use whenever life gets heavy
With the infamous Montezuma Triple Waterfall only 900 steps away and the Pacific Ocean just a short walk away, enjoy the healing and cleansing energy of the water element anytime to assist in your healing journey.
Combine the healing and cleansing energy of the waterfalls and the ocean with the heart-expanding, exotic and electric energy of the rainforest and jungle 💚
Enjoy plenty of free time to relax, journal, contemplate, and explore on your own.
Enjoy a collective relaxing group sound bath ceremony
Heart Expanding Cacao Ceremony:
There’s a reason you reach for chocolate when you need comfort. Cacao has been used for centuries to calm the nervous system and open the heart – not metaphorically, but chemically.
Ceremonial-grade cacao contains anandamide (known as the “bliss molecule”) along with magnesium, antioxidants, and natural mood boosters. It’s comfort food with a purpose.
Cristiane (from Brazil) leads this ceremony in the Mayan tradition. You’ll sit in circle, drink cacao sourced from Costa Rica’s BriBri Tribe, and be guided through a meditation designed to quiet your mind and reconnect you to what you’re actually feeling.
No experience necessary. No pressure to perform. Just an hour to stop doing and start being.
🌄 Daily Adventures (All of these Excursions Are Included)
**Special Note: If you would prefer to opt-out of any of the included experiences (let's just say you're not feeling zip-lining, for example; please give me 24-hours' notice and let me know. ✈️ Getting to Anamaya: Your Step-by-Step Arrival Guide
We want your journey to paradise to be as smooth and stress-free as possible. Below is the exact step-by-step travel route to guide you directly from your international flight straight to our front desk.
Step 1: Your International Flight
Destination Airport: Book your international flight to arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José, Costa Rica.
Pro-Tip: Try to book an international flight that lands in the morning or early afternoon. This gives you plenty of daylight hours to seamlessly connect to your domestic transfer.
Step 2: Domestic Connection
The Flight: From SJO, you will take a quick, incredibly scenic domestic flight to Cóbano Airport.
The Experience: This flight takes less than 30 minutes. It bypasses hours of driving and ferry transits, flying you directly over the stunning Gulf of Nicoya and the lush canopy of the peninsula.
Step 3: Taxi Transfer to Anamaya Resort
The Route: Once you land at the Cóbano airstrip, you will take a 20-minute airport taxi ride straight to Anamaya. (This will be arranged for you and included in your cost. Arrangements will come once flight information is received).
The Experience: This short drive winds through the vibrant greenery of the southern Nicoya Peninsula. Keep your eyes open—this is often your very first glimpse of local wildlife and the rolling hills of Montezuma.
Step 4: Check-In & Settle In
Welcome Home: Upon arrival at Anamaya, our team will be waiting to greet you, hand you your keys, and help with your luggage. Guests check-in begins at 2pm on Saturday, May 15, 2027.
Your First Evening: Once you drop your bags in your room, take a deep breath of the fresh ocean air. You will have plenty of time to wander the resort grounds, check out the ocean-view yoga decks, and unpack before our group officially connects.
⚠️ Important Timing Note:
Because local airstrips are visual-guided and do not operate after dark, domestic flights from San José (SJO) to Cóbano only run during daylight hours (typically wrapping up by late afternoon).
If your international flight lands before 2:00 PM: You should have ample time to clear customs and catch the final afternoon domestic flight.
If your international flight lands after 2:00 PM: You will not make the last flight out. In this scenario, we highly recommend flying into San José one night early. Spending your first night near SJO allows you to wake up refreshed, catch an early morning domestic flight to Cóbano, and arrive at Anamaya completely stress-free. Many local airport hotels offer a free 5-minute shuttle to and from the terminals.
Please read Anamaya's Official Travel Page Here: https://anamaya.com/travel/
🛃 Costa Rica Entry Requirements
Passport: Must be valid for the duration of your stay and in good physical condition (damaged passports may be denied entry).
Return/Onward Ticket: Proof of a confirmed flight or travel plan leaving Costa Rica within your allowed stay window is mandatory.
Financial Proof: Authorities may request proof of economic means of at least $100 USD per month of your planned stay. (I have personally never had to do this and I have been 3x in 2014, 2017, and 2022)
Vaccinations: A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required only if you are arriving from designated high-risk countries in South America or Africa.

📌 Travel Insurance:
Travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect your investment in the event of unexpected changes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Please read the following Cancellation and Refund Policy. These terms are contractually binding with the purchase of your package. By registering for this retreat you are acknowledging you have read the following terms and you agree to these terms. Please purchase travel insurance to cover any unexpected circumstances and to prevent financial loss in the case of an emergency. Transfers are accepted as long as the transfer does not cause an issue with any roommate situations - i.e., a woman in an all-women dorm cannot transfer her reservation to a man).
📃 Cancellation & Refund Policy:
We want you to feel completely confident and prepared when you book your experience. Because Anamaya is an exclusive, boutique resort operating with limited space, we must turn away other guests once a room is reserved. Because we incur non-refundable operational costs with the venue well ahead of the retreat date, we strictly enforce the following terms:
1. Deposits and Payments
Non-Refundable Deposit: The initial deposit ($500-$750 depending on room selection) required to secure your spot is strictly non-refundable under all circumstances. This deposit immediately locks in your chosen accommodation tier and allows us to guarantee the resort space.
Balance Due Date: The remaining balance of your retreat package must be paid in full before April 15, 2027. If the final payment is not received by this deadline, your spot may be released to the waitlist and your deposit forfeited.
2. Cancellations
All payments, including the deposit and final balance, are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable; exceptions cannot be made. By confirming this spot, you have agreed and confirmed that all payments are non-refundable. Package may only be transferred to another guest should you decide to sell your spot to another person. You are also confirming that the terms and conditions have been read. If for any reason you believe there may be a circumstance that might affect your ability to attend after purchasing your package, please purchase travel insurance. We are unable to refund package under any circumstance.
If you become sick while on retreat and are in a shared room, you will be asked to move to another hotel, isolate and heal to protect the rest of the guests. This will be at the cost of the infected guest. Please check your travel and health insurance for coverage.
3. Late Arrivals, Early Departures, and No-Shows
No refunds, credits, or proration will be provided if you arrive late, leave early, or miss any portions of the stay, meals, or scheduled excursions.
4. Mandatory Travel Insurance Recommendation
Out of safety and care for your investment, we highly recommend purchasing a comprehensive travel insurance policy.
Ensure your policy includes international medical coverage, baggage protection, and "Cancel for Any Reason" (CFAR) coverage. This will protect your financial investment in the event of personal emergencies, unexpected illnesses, flight cancellations, or sudden travel disruptions, which our retreat policy cannot cover.
🔄 Transfers
You may transfer your booking to another person up to 60 days before (March 16, 2027), provided it respects rooming configurations (such as gendered-based dorm limits). The host does not find replacements, and all requests must go through hello@sarasyedyoga.com
Transfers must be requested in writing and coordinated with our team.
I understand that yoga, meditation, hiking, excursions, travel, and other Retreat activities may involve physical and emotional demands.
I agree to disclose to Sara Syed Yoga LLC, before participating in any activity, any medical condition, injury, disability, allergy, medication, pregnancy, or other circumstance that could reasonably affect my ability to safely participate.
I understand that Sara Syed Yoga LLC and its facilitators are not acting as physicians, psychologists, therapists, or other medical professionals and that yoga and meditation instruction does not constitute medical or mental-health treatment.
I am responsible for consulting my own qualified healthcare provider regarding whether participation is appropriate for me.
I agree to immediately stop participating in any activity if I experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, illness, injury, or other concerning symptoms and to seek appropriate medical attention.
Emergency Medical Authorization
In the event that I become ill, injured, unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to make or communicate medical decisions for myself, I authorize Sara Syed, Sara Syed Yoga LLC, and their representatives, to the extent reasonably necessary, to seek or facilitate emergency medical evaluation, transportation, treatment, or evacuation on my behalf.
I understand that Sara Syed Yoga LLC is not responsible for the cost of medical treatment, hospitalization, transportation, emergency evacuation, medications, or other medical services.
I authorize the release of necessary information concerning my participation and emergency contact information to medical personnel when reasonably necessary to facilitate emergency care.
I understand that this authorization does not make Sara Syed Yoga LLC responsible for providing medical care.
I agree to provide accurate emergency-contact information during registration and authorize Sara Syed Yoga LLC to contact that person in the event of an emergency.
I am responsible for ensuring that my emergency contact information remains current throughout the Retreat.
Travel Documents & Entry Requirements
I am solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining all documents necessary for international travel and entry into Costa Rica, including a valid passport, visas or other required documentation, vaccinations or health documentation where legally required, and any other travel requirements applicable to me.
Sara Syed Yoga LLC is not responsible for my inability to travel because of an expired passport, missing documentation, visa or entry issue, immigration decision, airline requirement, or other failure to satisfy applicable travel requirements.
Travel Insurance
I understand that Sara Syed Yoga LLC strongly requires participants to obtain comprehensive travel insurance appropriate for an international retreat.
I am responsible for obtaining coverage sufficient for my individual circumstances, including, as appropriate:
trip cancellation;
trip interruption;
trip delay;
emergency medical evacuation;
repatriation;
lost or delayed baggage;
personal property; and
other foreseeable travel risks.
Where available and appropriate, participants are strongly encouraged to obtain Cancel For Any Reason (“CFAR”) coverage.
I understand that insurance policies differ and that I am solely responsible for reviewing the policy terms, exclusions, coverage limits, deadlines, and eligibility requirements of my insurance provider.
Failure to purchase travel insurance does not create any obligation for Sara Syed Yoga LLC to refund or reimburse me for losses that could have been covered by insurance.
Registration, Payment & Non-Refundable Payments
All deposits and payments are subject to the Retreat's published payment schedule and cancellation policy.
All deposits are non-refundable except where expressly required by applicable law or expressly stated in writing by Sara Syed Yoga LLC.
A reservation is not considered fully paid until all required payments have been received and cleared.
If I fail to make a required payment by the applicable deadline, Sara Syed Yoga LLC may cancel my reservation and retain amounts previously paid, subject to the applicable cancellation policy and applicable law.
Sara Syed Yoga LLC is not obligated to hold a reservation indefinitely for a participant who fails to make required payments.
Participant Cancellation
I understand that cancellation by a participant is governed by the Retreat's separate Cancellation & Refund Policy, which is incorporated into this Agreement by reference.
I acknowledge that the Retreat operates with limited capacity and that Sara Syed Yoga LLC may incur substantial non-refundable expenses on my behalf after my reservation is confirmed.
Accordingly, I agree that cancellation deadlines and refund limitations stated in the Cancellation & Refund Policy are material terms of my agreement to participate.
Changes, Delays & Force Majeure
Sara Syed Yoga LLC reserves the right, when reasonably necessary, to modify, reschedule, substitute, or cancel activities, transportation arrangements, excursions, instructors, schedules, accommodations, or other Retreat components because of weather, natural disaster, government action, transportation disruption, health or safety concerns, labor disruption, political or civil disturbance, acts of third parties, venue issues, insufficient participation, force majeure, or other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Sara Syed Yoga LLC.
If an individual activity is changed or canceled, this does not automatically entitle a participant to a refund unless otherwise required by applicable law or expressly provided in the applicable Cancellation & Refund Policy.
Sara Syed Yoga LLC will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes to participants.
No Guarantee of Results
I understand that participation in the Retreat does not guarantee any particular physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual, relational, financial, or personal outcome.
Any discussion of healing, transformation, wellness, spirituality, personal growth, meditation, yoga, or related subjects is educational and experiential in nature and does not constitute a guarantee of results.
materially violates Retreat rules;
materially interferes with the experience or safety of other participants; or
engages in conduct that violates applicable law or the rules of the Retreat venue.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, a participant removed from the Retreat for misconduct is responsible for all resulting transportation, accommodation, medical, or other expenses and will not be entitled to a refund for unused portions of the Retreat unless otherwise required by law.
Personal Property
I am solely responsible for my passport, money, electronics, luggage, jewelry, medication, and other personal belongings.
Sara Syed Yoga LLC is not responsible for theft, loss, destruction, or damage to personal property except to the extent such liability cannot legally be excluded.
Idemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and reasonable expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or related to:
my negligent or intentional acts or omissions;
my violation of applicable law;
my material breach of this Agreement;
my violation of Retreat or venue rules; or
claims brought by another person arising from my conduct.
This indemnification obligation does not require me to indemnify any Released Party for liability that applicable law prohibits me from assuming.
Governing Law & Venue
The parties intend that this Agreement be governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, any dispute between a participant and Sara Syed Yoga LLC or Sara Syed arising from or relating to this Agreement or the Retreat shall be brought in a state or federal court located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and the participant consents to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts.
Nothing in this section is intended to prevent the application of any mandatory law that cannot legally be waived by contract.
Attorneys' Fees & Costs
To the extent permitted by applicable law, if Sara Syed Yoga LLC or a Released Party is required to defend against a claim brought by a participant arising from the participant's breach of this Agreement, misconduct, or other conduct for which the participant is legally responsible, the participant agrees to reimburse the Released Party for reasonable attorneys' fees and litigation costs incurred in enforcing the participant's obligations under this Agreement.
Nothing in this section is intended to create an award of attorneys' fees where such an award is prohibited by applicable law.
Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is determined by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Entire Agreement
This Agreement, together with the applicable Cancellation & Refund Policy and any other written terms expressly incorporated into the participant's registration, constitutes the entire agreement between the participant and Sara Syed Yoga LLC concerning participation in the Retreat and supersedes prior oral or written representations concerning the same subject matter.
No amendment or waiver shall be effective unless made in writing by an authorized representative of Sara Syed Yoga LLC.
No Waiver
3:00 PM | Heart-Expanding Cacao Ceremony
There’s a reason you reach for chocolate when you need comfort. Cacao has been used for centuries to calm the nervous system and open the heart – not metaphorically, but chemically.
Ceremonial-grade cacao contains anandamide (known as the “bliss molecule”) along with magnesium, antioxidants, and natural mood boosters. It’s comfort food with a purpose.
Cristiane (from Brazil) leads this ceremony in the Mayan tradition. You’ll sit in circle, drink cacao sourced from Costa Rica’s BriBri Tribe, and be guided through a meditation designed to quiet your mind and reconnect you to what you’re actually feeling.
