On the morning of day two, we catch a local flight to Yogyakarta and over the next few days enjoy privately guided highlights of the Javanese temples, night time street-food markets and of course descend in to world-famous Jomblang Cave.

Day five sees a day of travel. We fly from Yogyakarta to Denpasar, meet our local driver and guide and head towards our basecamp at the foot of Mt. Ijen. Here we overnight at our rustic accommodation in preparation for an early morning ascent of one of Java's most enigmatic volcanos.

Today we rise early, well before dawn and ascend the magnificent Mt. Ijen with it's almost alien topography, blue-flamed sulphur deposits and alluring azure blue water filled summit crater.

Once we have descended, we travel by road towards our second volcano ascent at Mt. Bromo and overnight at a rustic basecamp close to the foothills of this centrepiece of Java's epic volcano route.

The morning of day seven sees us again rising early in preparation for out assault of Mt. Bromo, reaching the summit before sunrise and watching dawn breaking over a stunning vista with slumbering volcanos and forests as far as the eye can see.

Once we descend, we continue our journey by road towards Surabaya before then next leg of the safari begins.

The morning of day eight sees us catching a short flight to the remote and magnificent island of Flores and our home for the next three nights. From our base at Flores well, hike waterfalls, visit unique local culture and of course travel by boat to the remarkable island of Komodo and walk with the impressive Komodo dragons as well as snorkelling with manta-rays and exploring pink sand beaches.

The morning of day ten, we say "dah dah" - Javanese for goodbye to Flores and catch a flight to Pankala Bun and onwards by riverboat to our home for the next seven nights at the brilliant Rimba eco-lodge. For coming days we'll enjoy a wide array of activities, exploring the forest in search of the vast amounts of wildlife as well as visiting many Orangutan "hot spots", cultural visits and night safaris to name just a few.

Today sees us saying farewell to the forests of Borneo and travelling to by air, via Surabaya, back to Jakarta. This is unfortunately where your privately guided safari to Indonesia and Borneo concludes. But this is not the end of your journey of exploration and I look forward to seeing you on your next epic wildlife adventure!
