About this trip

Botswana is regarded as one of the pinnacle safari destinations on the entire African continent.

It’s vast, pristine wilderness areas are home to some of the best wildlife viewing in all of Africa. And this somewhat different safari will take you to untouched corners to experience wildlife in its purest form.

For twelve days our small group will explore Botswana’s immaculate wilderness areas with one of, if not the country’s top mobile safari outfits - Harkness Safaris. After arriving in charming Maun, we travel to the wildlife rich Moremi Gamer Reserve on the fringes of the Okavango Delta and spend three days exploring its waterways and fig tree forests which are a magnet for large herds of elephants, boasting dense populations of both predator and prey. Sightings of leopard are considered the ‘norm’.

From Moremi we head to the private concession of Khwai for three nights. It may be one of the smaller reserve areas in Botswana but it is also one of the most scenic, with beautiful riverine forests and prolific game viewing with regular sightings of leopard, lion and one of the best places to spot African wild dogs in Botswana.

We then travel from Khwai to the wild and mysterious Savuti our home for three nights and it is also home to mega-prides of lions, cheetah, hyena and huge bull elephants, a plethora of others and hundreds of bird species. Savuti is reputed to have one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the African continent.

Day ten sees the last of the mobile safari experience as we take a short local flight from Savuti to Setari Safari Camp deep in the Okavango Delta and our home for the next two nights.

Setari is the perfect place from which to be immersed in an extraordinary wilderness. With year round water surrounding the island, Setari Camp offers the ultimate Okavango experience. Winding walkways high above the ground and a unique tree-housed community, marvel the panoramic views across the crystal-clear channels and papyrus beds beyond. Setari is a place where time stands still and gives the wonderful opportunity to slow the pace of our safari a little and reflect on the amazing adventure through some of Botswana’s most iconic wildlife destinations.

Your safari is much more than travelling to places far and wild. It’s about immersing you in the environment, giving you the best, most intimate experience with every detail taken in to consideration. Reaching fantastic places, searching for beautiful and inspiring aspects of wildlife and the natural world. All are key to helping you capture more thought provoking images.
