Unesco World Heritage–listed Segovia has always had a whiff of legend about it, not least in the myths that the city was founded by Hercules or by the son of Noah. It may also have something to do with the fact that nowhere else in Spain is such a stunning monument to Roman grandeur (the soaring aqueduct) surviving in the heart of a vibrant modern city. Or maybe it's because art really has imitated life Segovia-style – Walt Disney is said to have modelled Sleeping Beauty's castle in California's Disneyland on Segovia's Alcázar. 

Barcelona's architectural treasures span 2000-plus years. Towering temple columns, ancient city walls and subterranean stone corridors provide a window into Roman-era Barcino. Fast forward a thousand years or so to the Middle Ages by taking a stroll through the shadowy lanes of the Gothic quarter, past tranquil plazas and soaring 14th-century cathedrals

If for any reason THETRAVELJUNKEES are not able to visit our desired destination this trip will be postponed to a later date and time. If you cannot make the dates for the rescheduled trip, you will have the option to go at your leisure on your own. In some cases, we may be able to (depending on the dates) rollover monies paid to a TTJ tour for the future. In the event you opt out of either option you will be responsible for filing a claim with your insurance provider to recoup any monies paid.

We will have time for lunch in one of the many restaurants in the city after which we will explore the Alcazar, a stunning eleventh century medieval castle set on a rocky outcrop. A favored royal residence for many Spanish kings. The fairytale-like castle is said to be the inspiration for the famous Disney Castle.

The Montserrat and Cava Tour from Barcelona combines a visit to the beautiful Montserrat mountain one hour's drive from Barcelona and Caves Codorníu, one of Spain's oldest wineries. 

Codorníu is one of Spain's best producers of sparkling wine and a charming winery located just south of Montserrat. The spectacular cellars and houses around it was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch - one of Antoni Gaudís most important competitor. On the tour you will be able to taste the cava, see the production and take a ride through the wine cellars in a mini train.
