About this trip

Enjoy a wonderful, safe vacation by the sea in the beautiful, quaint fishing village of Bahia Asuncion in Baja Sur on the cool central west coast of the peninsula.

The Casita Bufadora is a 1 bedroom house overlooking the blowhole with a magnificent ocean view. It has a sofa bed in the living room, full kitchen, Starlink wifi and a beach next to the Inn with tide pools to explore.

Bahia Asuncion description

La Casita Bufadora is a private house overlooking the blowhole in the beautiful, safe fishing village of Bahia Asuncion on the Pacific side of central Baja, 2 hours southwest of Guerrero Negro. It is an hour from Highway 1 on a good paved road turning off at Vizcaino toward the coast.

Get directions from Google Maps under Campo Bufadora.

Activities include sportfishing for big yellowtail, tuna, wahoo, world class calico bass, bottom fish, shore fishing for halibut & corvina, surfing & surf lessons, kayaking, diving, snorkeling, beach combing, fossil hunting, hiking and relaxing by the ocean. Fresh seafood is abundant here including lobster, abalone, conch and fresh fish.

We have a wonderful temperate climate year round here, which means air temps in the low 80's in summer and 70's in the winter. Fishing is best from Oct-February. Winters are very mild as the water temps are around 70 degrees until April when our winter starts and lasts till mid June with windy & colder weather.

It is a great place to bring your family for a vacation!

Please check  availability via email to infoasuncion@gmail.com before reserving a date.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE AREA

We are a small village so there is no ATM machine so make sure you load up on pesos before you come out to Bahia Asuncion. Most places take credit cards but some smaller businesses do not.  There is a gas station, grocery stores, mechanics, tire shop, welder, hospital & clinic, hyperbaric chamber, a few restaurants with fresh seafood and some food stands & carts.

We have several stores and services but bring your own specialty foods, liquor & medications as the choices are rather limited here.

The village is extremely safe...like stepping back in time 30 years as everyone is very friendly and welcoming and very few tourists.

Temperatures vary so make sure you bring both clothes for the beach and nice weather and warm clothes for the evenings. The wind comes up in the afternoons so kayaking, surfing, beach activities are best in the morning or at least before early afternoon. It lays down for beautiful Pacific sunsets...perfect for walking along the shoreline.

We have 2 active fishing cooperatives that have the rights to all the shellfish, lobster & abalone and it is a federal crime to people to take those products. You can buy seafood from the cooperatives and receive a legal receipt of proof of purchase. This is strictly enforced!
