The culinary scene in Catalunya is absolutely phenomenal. Long before culinary travel became a global trend, locals here were already celebrating food as a way of life. This region offers an extraordinary diversity of flavours, traditions, and landscapes — from the Mediterranean coast of the Costa Brava to medieval inland villages and vibrant cities. Catalunya is the birthplace of both Cava and Vermouth, and it is also home to some of Spain’s most exciting up-and-coming wine regions, including Priorat and Empordà. Deeply rooted in terroir yet boldly innovative, Catalan cuisine reflects a strong sense of identity, pride, and creativity — making it a perfect destination for an Epicureans Culinary Adventure.
Our home for the week is a beautiful Mas - renovated farm estate - located near Girona, approximately 45 minutes from Barcelona. Surrounded by nature and thoughtfully designed for shared living, the villa offers inviting communal spaces alongside comfortable private rooms — an ideal setting for long-table meals, wine workshops, and relaxed moments together. The peaceful countryside location provides a gentle contrast to our daily explorations, allowing us to slow down, connect, and fully immerse ourselves in the rhythm of the region. We’ll begin our journey in Barcelona, easily accessible via international flights and major train connections, and travel together by private coach to the villa and throughout the week.
Our time in Catalunya is designed to immerse you in local culture through hands-on, meaningful experiences that connect food, wine, and place. Highlights of our itinerary include vermut time and a guided walk through a historic Barcelona neighbourhood, olive oil farm visits with tastings, and a workshop at a Cava winery — where we’ll even make our own Cava. Along the coast, we’ll kayak or boat through the picturesque fishing village of Cadaqués, enjoy scenic coastal hikes, and savour seafood at charming seaside restaurants. Inland, we’ll explore medieval villages, take part in a Girona food tour, visit an authentic goat cheese farm with a quirky aging cave, attend a live fish auction followed by a seafood cooking demonstration, and visit boutique wineries in Priorat and Empordà. Back at the villa, wine workshops and shared meals will tie the experiences together, deepening your understanding of Catalan flavours and traditions. Each day balances discovery with connection, creating a rich and unforgettable culinary journey.
