BayernTrips is partnering with Cedar Springs Brewing Company in Michigan, to explore the roots of their Bavarian and Bohemian brewing and dining traditions. The trip is anchored by a traditional May Pole Festival and Munich's Frühlingfest, & you'll enjoy an insider's view of the alpine regions of southern Bavaria and Austria. We first enjoy Salzburg and nearby Berchtesgaden before heading in to the Czech Republic to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Český Krumlov, followed by a visit to the original Budweis. Back in Munich, we have two evenings at the Münchner Frühlingsfest, Oktoberfest's little sister. In addition to amazing beer and food, there is lots of history, scenery and great times!
There is also an optional "add on" trip to the Rheinland to sample the classic ales of Köln, with their Kölsch Biers and the spectacular Dom Cathedral, and Dusseldorf, home of Altbier.
We gather up at 11:00 AM at Munich airport and our first stop is with Alois IV at the Unertl brewery in the small town of Haag for lunch around 12:30 PM. After a hearty Schweinebraten and lots of Weissbier, we continue another two hours to Salzburg. The Weissbier theme continues with dinner at Die Weisse and then its early to bed!
