Welcome! Feel the warm Dalmatian breeze and sun on your face, let it refresh you. Once all our guests arrive (those arriving early will have the chance for a dip in the Adriatic Sea at our host hotel to unwind prior to the arrival of the rest of the guests), we will head out to wine country, a short but amazingly scenic drive along the coastal highway. We will be staying on the Peljesac Peninsula, one of Croatia’s most superlative spots for wine sipping and stunning scenery. Our hotel for the stay is the Aminess Grand Azur Hotel, which is a 4 Star property situated along the Adriatic sea in Orebic Along the way, we’ll stop at The Arboretum, the oldest one in Europe, for a brief tour of the scenery and to indulge in some light bites prepared by a food historian that specializes in keeping the old Dalmatian traditions and recipes alive, before heading to Peljesac (this will be the longest drive of the trip, about 90 minutes). After settling into our hotel, we will gather for a private wine tasting and homemade dinner with one of our favorite winemakers at a beautifully restored villa.

From an early age, Chef Richard Gruica saw how food and drink could unite people, regardless of their backgrounds, making everyone happy. With his passion for gastronomy, he decided to create the most incredible of edible journeys. Through extensive research, he presents some of the finest examples of tradition, craft and small producers from across the globe to the guests of his tours. More significantly, guests get to meet and enjoy the people that have a true passion for what they do. Forget ordinary, experience extraordinary!

Richard arranged a perfect mix of activities, cultural experiences, luxury stays and eclectic mountain cabin experiences. Eating at local establishments with the specialties of the region, shopping the farmers markets, sampling at wineries, goat farms, and olive oil producers added to my experiences. The trip was also paced well with plenty of walking, yet mornings free for individual time. I would definitely recommend a trip to Croatia, especially organized by Richard, and the bonus of a great van driver, Mladin, who provided a wealth of fun facts and stories!

It is hard to even come up with words to explain how wonderful this trip was. We signed up with an open mind and were blown away by the amount of excursions, attention to detail, delicious food, accommodations and attitude of Richard. We ate the best food I have ever had in my life, did not have to make any decisions and my jaw hit the floor at least once a day at the beauty and fun we were having. Come with a big apatite! This trip was worth every cent and more. We will be back. I hope you get a chance to experience something like this.

Though the Charleston chef unexpectedly had to withdraw his participation, Chef Gruica managed to pull off a once in a lifetime set of experiences in beautiful Croatia. The food, wine and accommodations were stellar. Richard's knowledge and passion for Croatia were apparent in everything he planned. A wonderful trip.
