Pickup from your accommodation in Riobamba at 8.30 a.m. for the scenic ride to Chimborazo Reserve. We make short stops for photos of the mountain and observation of the vicuñas, the wild cousins of llamas and alpacas. After about 1,5 hour drive arrive at the Carrel hut at 4850 m. / 15912 ft. Here we start the 1-kilometer hike on a trail of rocks and – depending on the weather in previous days – snow. The trail gradually climbs to the Whymper hut (5050 m. / 16.568 ft.) and on to Condor Cocha. This tiny glacial lake at 5100 m / 16.732 ft. is a great spot to contemplate the ever-changing mountain scenery!
We will hike down and on the way back to Riobamba have a stop in the village of San Juan for lunch in a local restaurant
