Darkness, both literal and metaphorical, tends to make us uncomfortable. It’s no wonder. Christian tradition often equates light with goodness and darkness with evil.
But throughout the Bible, God works in both light and darkness, including the physical and symbolic darkness that suffuses the greatest story of light ever told: the birth of Jesus.
In this retreat, we'll examine how God has met and continues to meet humanity in dark places, and explore how and why we might embrace darkness as a holy and blessed space.
The retreat begins with check-in at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday and a community Advent Taizé prayer service at 4:00 p.m.. We will end with lunch on Friday. In addition to group discussion and contemplation, there will be ample time for personal prayer and reflection.
