From explosive games of tejo with locals to sipping coffee at one of the world’s most stunning farms, and exploring Medellín’s powerful urban renaissance through street art and storytelling—this is more than a trip. It’s a celebration of midlife magic, connection, and rediscovery.

Our trips are affordable because of group rates we are able to guarantee through contracts and commitments, as well as pre-paying trip fees and lodging. Therefore, our trips are non-refundable. You may transfer your trip with approval. As noted, travel insurance is mandatory for this trip. Please note allotted reasons for cancellation as well as the force majeure of the policy you choose with your travel insurance company.

We proudly offer custom, interest-free payment plans. We ask that you please keep your credit card up to date and ensure that your payments are not missed. If more than 60 days go by and we are unable to process your scheduled payment, your spot will be released and your deposit forfeited.

Arrival: Day 1

Welcome to vibrant and inspiring city of Medellín. A private transfer will be waiting for you at the airport to bring you to your boutique accommodations located in the heart the stylish El Poblado District, which is buzzing with restaurants and life.  After getting settled, enjoy a wonderful welcome dinner with our new friends at a local restaurant with amazing food. ¡Salud!

Day 2

Enjoy breakfast on the hotel’s rooftop terrace before embarking on an incredible day.


Take an insider’s walking tour of Medellín’s Comuna 13, a neighborhood once famed for its conflict and now an inspiration for urban transformation. We will watch hip hop performances, visit galleries, and hear real life stories from locals about their personal struggles. We’ll admire the talented street art that decorates this neighborhood, learn about several pieces and even be able to create our own unique TAGS! 

In the afternoon, we will explore Moravia, a vibrant Medellín neighborhood transformed from a former landfill into a dynamic cultural hub. We will have the opportunity to visit the cultural center, where we’ll hear from leaders and be able to sustainably give back to the community.  "We'll lunch at a female-owned restaurant that not only serves delicious food, but also operates as a social enterprise supporting single mothers.

February 15th

Day 3

After an early breakfast, we head by private transport to one of the most iconic places in all of Colombia- El Peñol. This massive rock formation is flanked by over 600 stairs. Believe me when I say the climb is worth it! When you get to the top, you’ll be met with sweeping panoramic views of a turquoise colored lake dotted with tiny islands. At the top you can take in the views, shop or buy a drink. Mango micheladas are favorites here!

The most colorful town ever,  Guatapé is our next stop. During our walking tour, we’ll admire the colorful houses and ancient cobblestones  before having a traditional lunch at one of the nicest restaurants in Guatape.  There will also be a little free time to explore this adorable town, which you will undoubtedly fall in love with.  Our group will then head back to Medellín for the evening. Overnight Medellín.

February 16th

Day 4

Early breakfast before taking a scenic drive through the majestic Andes, deep into Colombian coffee country. We will explore the UNESCO protected town of timeless Salamina, strolling through flower-adorned balconies, and colorful, colonial streets while taking in the historic sites.

Our group will have an incredibly unique experience of visiting  two traditional Salamineño homes, where we’ll enjoy a warm welcome with coffee or snack.  It will be a special experience to see their unique homes and meet the owners in this authentic and meaningful way. 

Check into our charming accommodation, steps from the historic center and enjoy a free evening. Overnight Salamina.

Day 5

Breakfast at the hotel before we head out for a day full of adventure. Riding in traditional Jeep Willy’s, we’ll arrive in the Andean village of San Félix, which feels like it was suspended in time. We’ll have an opportunity to explore the little town’s traditional shops and meet the welcoming locals.  From there, we head to the majestic Samaria Valley, where we will hike through the tallest palm trees in the world and  looking for the many unique birds that call this area home. A truel colombian lunch awaits us at a restaurant which showcases the beauty of the valley.

But, wait! The day is not over. In the evening, you’ll be able to try your hand at Colombia’s unique national sport-tejo! Toss metal discs aiming at gunpowder targets for explosive fun. You will be able to enjoy cold drinks and soak in the lively atmosphere with the locals. You will not soon forget this experience that will have everyone laughing. Overnight Salamina.

Day 6

After a slow morning, we drive through mountain landscapes and verdant coffee farms to reach the iconic town of Salento, said to be an inspiration for the movie Encanto.

Enjoy free time exploring the artisan shops and cafes of this storybook town.

Day 7

Take the morning to enjoy exploring Salento, and then after lunch, the group will make our way to one of the most stunning coffee farms on the planet, Finca El Ocaso. This coffee farm perched high in the mountains is breathtakingly beautiful. Here the group will learn about the delicate process of coffee farming while making our way through a trail lined with diverse plants, birds, and fresh water. You’ll soon understand how this unique ecosystem provides the perfect conditions for perfect coffee.

In the evening, we will gather in the beloved town of Salento to celebrate a wonderful week and enjoy a farewell dinner with our new friends.

Day 8: Departure Day

Rise and shine as we say goodbye! Transfers to the Pereira* airport.

A few things

Passports: Please be sure your passport is valid for 6 months after the trip is over.

Travel Insurance:

Travel insurance including emergency medical evacuation coverage is required for all Somewhere Sunny travelers. You may provide your own coverage or purchase coverage here.

Airports/Transfers:
-Our trips starts in Medellín and ends in Periera.
-We recommend purchasing a multi-city flight arriving to Medellín (MDE) and departing from Bogotá (BOG).

-Transfers from the airport will be provided for you.
-There is a domestic flight on Avianca that is around $75 from Periera to Bogotá on February 20th. For example:
Depart Periera (PEI) 10:00am Arrive Bogotá: 10:55
*Please note: There are flights from Periera to Bogotá almost every hour if a different time is required to match your international flight departure.
