About this trip

Get to know Colombia from a local perspective with this immersive 11-day trip that combines the best of main cities, outdoor destinations, and cultural activities.

Arrive in Bogotá, the buzzing and interesting capital of the country, where you will spend the first three days learning about Colombia's conflicted past, delighting yourself with local treats, and having some fun with the national sport.

Head to San José del Guaviare, a lesser-known region that was recently opened to tourism and whose natural wonders are worth a visit. Not only will you find archaeological heritage from ancient indigenous communities but you will encounter amazing landscapes and natural beauty all around.

Continue to Cartagena, one of Colombia's most renowned cities and where the Caribbean and tropical vibes are always present. Walk around the city, learn about its interesting history and play some African-rooted music before leaving for your next destination.

The trip will end in the stunning Tayrona area. A National Natural Park where the jungle meets the sea and the indigenous traditions and cultures remain alive. Enjoy your last days in Colombia surrounded by tranquil and beautiful landscapes.

This was an excellent tour. The family and staff of the coffee farm were welcoming and gracious with extra cudos for allowing us to visit on Good Friday. We enjoyed expertly prepared coffee and an isightful, educational tour of the farm. We got exercise up and down the irregular landscape of the farm and picking coffee was really fun too. We came away with a real appreciation for the hard job of coffee picking and preparation. A big shout out to our guide Gilardo! He was a none stop wealth of information. A very nice and friendly guy. We consider ourselves lucky to have his guidance a be in his care. This coffee farm tour was the perfect countryside event to round out our 3 and a half days in Bogota

I almost never use a travel agent. Never one that isn’t based in-country. Wandering the planet as a journalist for many decades has taught me to find things out for myself. Having said that if you were to use one in Colombia you can’t go far wrong with Impulse. They’re a young team, they’re keen, they’re reliable and they take an interest in their clients. We felt looked after which was just as well as I was ill for about 10 days. Felipe was helpful to a fault. I think it took him a while to figure out what kind of travellers we are but he was always thoughtful, open-minded and up for a challenge. Recommend Impulse without reservations. You’re in good hands

Traveling through Colombia with Impulse was extraordinary. They are knowledgeable, funny, well prepared and know all the best places typically reserved for locals. Their insight into the culture and history of the country grew my appreciation for Colombia to a depth I never could have imagined. The music, the food, the people - thank you, Impulse, for broadening my perspective in such a fun and enjoyable way!

What an amazing group of people that work for Impulse Travel! They take such good care of all the details, the local connections they have are incredible, they are very good on preparing the travelers for their trip + very accommodating when requested for something specific. I did my 40th bday trip with them and the Sounds of Colombia itinerary and it was one of the best trips of my life! It is amazing to travel with Gregorio Uribe and all his amazing knowledge and connections of great musicians around Colombia. Rodrigo and Juli also were very kind to accommodate when I asked if we could play Tejo (the amazing Colombia sport/game). I absolutely love the positive impact that trip had in the communities, as we only stayed on local owned places, ate incredible food made by the communities we visited and worked with local guides. Incredible! It was a very fun, educational and transformative trip! Highly recommend!
