Day 1

Day 1 image

Arrival, Escazú Mountains

Arrive in San José and transfer to the Escazú Mountains. Evening welcome briefing followed by our first night walk in search of amphibians and reptiles on the forest edge.

Day 2

Day 2 image

Transfer to Sarapiquí

Travel to the Caribbean lowlands of Sarapiquí. Afternoon rest before an evening night hike through the humid lowland forest, prime territory for a wide range of frogs and macro subjects.

Day 3

Day 3 image

Sarapiquí

Free morning to rest, review images, or explore the lodge grounds. Repeat night session at a nearby site to build on Day 2's sightings.

Day 4

Day 4 image

Transfer to Centro Manú

Travel onward to Centro Manú. Evening night walk targeting the reserve's frog and reptile diversity.

Day 5

Day 5 image

Centro Manú

Free morning, then a second night session exploring different trails within the reserve.

Day 6

Day 6 image

Transfer to Cerro de la Muerte

Travel up into the Talamanca highlands, a pure transit day connecting the lowlands to the southern highland zone.

Day 7

Day 7 image

Transfer to Pérez Zeledón

Continue to Pérez Zeledón, home to some of the trip's most sought-after highland specialists. Evening night herping session targeting Atelopus and other high-elevation species.

Day 8

Day 8 image

Pérez Zeledón

Free morning, then a second night session in the same area, working different sites for remaining target species.

Day 9

Day 9 image

Transfer to Sierpe

Travel to Sierpe on the Pacific coast, a shift into mangrove and river habitat. Evening night session along the waterways.

Day 10

Day 10 image

Sierpe

Free morning, then a final night session exploring Sierpe's mangrove channels for river- and wetland-associated species.

Day 11

Day 11 image

Departure

Return transfer to San José for departure.
