Arrival. Arrive in Bocas del Toro at your own pace. Transfer from Costa Rica available at an additional cost. Check in at our base lodge and settle in for a welcome briefing in the evening.

Island Exploration. Head out by boat to one island in the morning to search for a local Oophaga pumilio morph, photographing wildlife and birds along the way. In the afternoon, we move to a second island for a different morph and more photography opportunities. Return to the lodge for dinner.Day 2 — Island Exploration. Another full day exploring two more islands, morning and afternoon, in search of additional Oophaga pumilio morphs and the wildlife that shares their habitat.Day 3 — Island Exploration. Continue the island-hopping rhythm, visiting two more locations across the archipelago to round out your morph sightings and photography.Day 4 — Final Island Morning + Optional Snorkel. One last morning island visit for any remaining morphs and photo opportunities. In the afternoon, join an optional snorkeling excursion, or take free time to relax, edit photos, or explore the lodge grounds.

Travel north to Boca Tapada, deep in the lowland rainforest. Afternoon session at the King Vulture hide and surrounding feeder platforms, photographing toucans, macaws, and one of the region's most striking raptors up close.

A full day around Boca Tapada's hides and trails, working the feeder platforms and forest edges for lowland species.

En route, stop at Cope's home and gardens, a local naturalist's private setup known for owls, bats, hummingbirds, and other wildlife. Continue to Centro Manú in the afternoon, with an evening herping session in search of frogs and reptiles.

Travel up into the Talamanca highlands.

Early morning private Resplendent Quetzal session, our first attempt at this signature species. Afternoon at leisure or photographing highland hummingbirds.

A second early morning attempt at the Resplendent Quetzal for the best possible odds, then travel down to the coast via the Costanera. Rest of the afternoon at leisure to settle in after the long transfer.

Full day around Carara National Park and the coast, starting with a morning boat trip through the Tarcoles mangroves for scarlet macaws, crocodiles, and waterbirds, then exploring Carara's trails in the afternoon.

Early morning session around Tarcoles/Carara for a final chance at scarlet macaws and other coastal species, then a late-morning departure to Monteverde, Costa Rica's cloud forest capital.

Eleven days built around night walks across some of Costa Rica's best herping ground, from Sarapiquí's lowland forest to Centro Manú, a private highland site for Atelopus near Pérez Zeledón, and the Sierpe mangroves to close it out.
