Dance Classes & Group Activities

Dancing style and opportunities

Dancing on our Croatia Dance Adventure is about going deeper. While Ari will touch on blues, swing, and other popular styles, our focus is on Fusion, a genre he excels at like no other.

Fusion classes are designed for dancers who already know how to move and now want to refine, expand, and truly inhabit their dance. Under Ari Levitt’s thoughtful and musically rich teaching style, you’ll explore how to blend elements of Swing, Blues, Latin, Nightclub 2, tango, and more into a fluid, expressive vocabulary that works beautifully on a real social floor. Rather than drilling patterns, Ari focuses on connection, intention, phrasing, and effortless lead-follow flow — the qualities that make dancing feel satisfying, grounded, and alive.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Croatia’s Adriatic coast, you won’t just take classes; you’ll deepen your artistry, experience the music, strengthen your confidence, and share meaningful dances with like-minded adults who value joy, curiosity, and connection as much as you do.

• Daily dance classes (intermediate level) with Ari and at least 1 other teacher – typically in the morning

• Nightly social dancing in port on the dock, at local establishments, or on board the ship while overlooking amazing scenery

Standard activities throughout the week:

• Scenic cycling opportunities
• Swim stops in the Adriatic’s crystal-clear waters
• Guided city explorations
• Plenty of time to relax, connect, and celebrate, dance practice, private lessons

Pre-Trip Mostar Add-on (2 nights)

Plan to fly into Split on Sept 2 (for a 9:00am start on Sept 3rd) and join us for a special 2 night/3 day pre-trip extension to beautiful Mostar in Bosnia & Herzegovina, a UNESCO World Heritage site that is well worth spending some time in.  Please note, this is not a formal part of our cruise program, but a more relaxed opportunity for people to arrive early, get acquainted, get acclimated, and explore the city and region together.

The three-day itinerary includes exploring:

• Split – arrival and start of the pre-trip extension program. We leave at 9:00am from the main bus terminal in Split on Sept 3rd.
• Mostar – a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its Ottoman bridges, Old Town, and deep cultural history
• Livno Wild Horses Experience – a unique 4×4 off-road safari to see one of Europe’s few free-roaming wild horse herds
• Return to Trogir – regroup and board the MS Carpe Diem for the sailing week

The Livno wild horse experience is truly exceptional. High above the Livno valley, on the Kruzi plateau near Mount Cincar, nearly 700 wild horses roam freely. Local guides take you by 4×4 up to the plateau for close (but respectful) encounters, incredible photography, sweeping views, and often a small traditional picnic. It’s one of the most unusual and memorable wildlife experiences in the Balkans and fits beautifully into this pre-trip.

=========== CONSECUTIVE TRIP DISCOUNT ============

We have three back-to-back trips scheduled in Sept, 2026

=> If you join us for any two of those, you get $200 off the total price. The $200 discount will automatically be applied when you register for the Overland Connector Trip as an "add-on"

=> Anyone doing all three three trips will get a FREE private lesson with Ari

**NOTE - In reply to someone's question about this, regarding the road conditions from Trogir to Padova, we will be traveling mostly on a combination of modern highways and main state roads. These are comfortable, well-maintained routes and not winding mountain roads. The drive is scenic in parts, but it is not a narrow or serpentine alpine-style journey. From Padova onward, travel is by comfortable train connections all the way to Florence, so there is no long bus ride through mountainous terrain.

Pre-Pre-Trip Swing Dance Camp:

For anyone interested in a wonderful week of swing dancing in a spectacular location in Montenegro, Ari will be teaching at the "Swing Dance Montenegro Summer Camp" from Aug 23-29, and you are more than welcome to come early and attend that as well.

The dance style will be mostly Lindy-hop and it does assume you already know the basics.

The location is a beautiful sea-side villa near the amazing Medieval walled city of Kotor. You can learn more about it HERE (you would have to register for it separately)

How to get there

If you're joining us directly for the cruise or for the pre-cruise add-on, plan to fly into Split, Croatia (airport code: SPU), and to depart from Split, Croatia (airport code: SPU)

You will need to be at the ship at the latest by noon on Sat, Sept 5th. The ship is just a short cab ride from the Split airport (15-20 min), but you will want to give yourself plenty of time to get there.

I highly recommend coming early for the pre-cruise add-on to Mostar, or to at least book yourself a room in Split the night before. These days with airlines delays and cancellations, you will want to make sure you have plenty of buffer time built into to your flight so you don't miss the departure of the cruse (the ship departs at 1:00pm on Sat, Sept 5th)

For your departure from Split, any flight after 11:30am should give you plenty of time to take a taxi from the ship to the airport after our farewell group breakfast on Sat, Sept 12th.

If you are joining us for our post-cruise land tour to Florence, the transportation will meet us at the ship, no worries. You would then plan to book your flight home from Florence, Italy

Passport & Visa

All travelers must have a valid passport for international travel and many countries require at least 6 months validity from the date of return. Some countries also require a machine-readable passport and/or unstamped available pages.

When assisting with an international travel booking, we will assume that all travelers on the booking have a valid passport. If this is not the case, you must let us know. It is important to ensure you have valid passports, visas and re-entry permits which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities. Any fines, penalties, payments, delay or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be your sole responsibility.

Information about Passport/VISA requirements for Croatia can be found HERE

======== NEW EUROPEAN VISA TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS FOR FALL, 2026 =======

TRAVEL TO THE EUROPEAN UNION (EU):

While the EU does NOT currently have a Visa requirement for USA & Canadian citizens, they will be implementing one in the Fall of 2026. It will be called ETIAS (short for "European Information and Authorization System"). We will update this site as soon as we have more information to share. For other nationalities, be sure to check your country requirements for travel to the EU.

CLICK HERE to view the official ETIAS website:

TRAVEL TO THE UNITED KINGDOM (UK):

For anyone visiting the UK during your travels, it's important to know that starting Jan 8th, 2026, they do require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) if you are doing anything more than directly connecting to flights through the airport.

The Electronic Travel Authorization functions as a digital pre-clearance system, similar to the U.S. ESTA program used for visa-waiver travelers entering the United States.

U.S. passport holders must obtain an ETA before traveling to any part of the U.K., including England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the U.K.’s British Overseas Territories.

The ETA, once approved, is valid for two years (or until the traveler’s passport expires, whichever comes first) and for multiple trips. It costs £16 (about $22) for each passenger, adults and children alike.

WHO NEEDS A UNITED KINGDOM ETA:

U.S. citizens must apply for an ETA if they are traveling to or transiting through the U.K. and do not already hold a U.K. visa, a British or Irish passport or legal residency in the U.K. or the Republic of Ireland. Travelers who already require a visa to enter the U.K. under existing rules will continue to need a visa and should not apply for an ETA.

The rules clearly state that travelers do not need an ETA if they are transiting through a U.K. airport and will not pass through border control. However, if they pass through border control, they need the ETA.

HOW TO APPLY:

Applications must be submitted online through the U.K. government’s official website or via the U.K. ETA app, available on Google Play and the App Store. The U.K. government notes that most people currently receive a decision automatically within minutes. However, they still recommended allowing three working days to be on the safe side.

COVID Vaccination

Proof of COVID Vaccination is NOT currently required for this trip.

Please check the most recent CDC update to view any change in regulations.  Requirements for travel to Europe can be found at HERE.   Information about return travel to the US can be found at HERE.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is required for all of our trips and will help protect both your investment and our vendors should you need to cancel. There are many companies that offer travel insurance options. You can sign up with one such policy during the payment checkout portion of this registration.

Private 3rd-Party Insurance Companies:

  •  If you are a AAA member, you may want to check with them.

  • I have also found that Faye insurance is very easy to purchase online. (www.withFaye.com).

  • Allianz Travel Insurance  seems to be a very popular choice among our travelers as well (www.allianztravelinsurance.com) If you travel several times a year, Allianz also provides an annual travel insurance policy which can save you money overall. It's very easy to sign up online, or you can contact the Allianz reservations team at  866 884-3556.

  • This WeTravel website has a travel insurance policy that you may purchase at checkout. The policy allows you to cancel for any reason, which is a nice option to have. Other travel insurance companies may place restrictions on why you may cancel (for medical emergency only, etc). Be sure to check your policy limitations

  • Here is an online list of the 10 Best Travel Insurance Companies for 2025

Airlines:

  • Airlines also frequently provide travel insurance for your trip that you can purchase at the check out page when you are buying your tickets, and you may want to look at that option as well.  Be sure you know if this covers just the flight, or the flight and travel in-between.

Credit Card Inclusions:

  • Certain credit cards also provide cancellation and interruption benefits for any vacation package that you may buy using your card. This means that if you charge the full pre-paid cost of a packaged trip through a travel agency to your credit card, that expense typically qualifies for purposes of travel insurance protections. Please note: if the travel agency's merchant category or descriptions on your statement don't clearly show prepaid travel or a traveler itinerary, the card issuer may require supporting documents. One of our participants found this to be true in our case when she discovered her purchase was registered on her credit card statement as "entertainment" and not "travel". Be sure to check with your credit card company first to make sure that 1) they provide travel insurance, and that 2) you know exactly what they are covering and what you would need to submit to them for a refund.

  • If you don't have a credit card that is specifically travel focussed, I highly recommend the Chase Bank Sapphire Card. I have one and I have found it to be invaluable for the following reasons:

    • Key Benefits and Perks

      • Sign-up Bonus: Earn 75,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.

      • Annual Hotel Credit: $50 statement credit for hotel stays booked through Chase Travel.

      • Anniversary Bonus: 10% boost on total points earned from purchases made the previous year.

      • Redemption Bonus: Points are worth 25% more (1.25 cents each) when redeemed for travel through Chase.

      • No Foreign Transaction Fees: Ideal for international travel.

      Earning Rates

      • 5x Points: On travel purchased through Chase Travel (excluding the $50 annual hotel credit).

      • 3x Points: On dining (including delivery/takeout), select streaming services, and online groceries (excluding Target, Walmart, and wholesale clubs).

      • 2x Points: On all other travel purchases.

      • 1x Points: On all other purchases.

      Travel and Purchase Protections

      • Primary Rental Car Insurance: Coverage for theft or damage to rental cars in the U.S. and abroad, without filing with personal insurance first.

      • Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance: Up to $10,000 per person and $20,000 per trip.

      • Baggage Delay Insurance: Up to $100 per day for 5 days for bags delayed over 6 hours.

      • Lost Luggage Reimbursement: Up to $3,000 per passenger.

      • Trip Delay Reimbursement: Up to $500 per ticket for delays over 12 hours or requiring an overnight stay.

      • CLICK HERE to apply for your Sapphire Card and get either 125k or 75k bonus miles depending on the card you apply for.

Once you have purchased your travel insurance, please let us know the company name and policy number you have with them.

Changing Money

Restaurants, stores, and ATMs in most tourist destinations in Europe accept VISA, MC, and other bank, debit, and credit cards for access to Euros.  Just to be sure, however, you may want to exchange some currency before you come, or you can easily do it at the airport or at any tourist money exchange kiosk in town once you arrive.

Small Ship Travel

Is this trip right for you?

  • This is a small ship adventure cruise, which means you’ll be sailing on a yacht with up to 35 other people. The boat is spacious and comfortable, but it focuses more on the destination than on-board activities. Instead of a pool, we have the sea itself. Instead of a casino, we’ve got board games and a good book. There is also no formal dress code to worry about. Wi-Fi is available onboard.
  • Our ship moves under engine power, rather than sailing, so all cabins will experience light engine noise when the ship is moving (and occasionally when we drop anchor). It’s probably worth packing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.
  • Unlike other ships that cruise through the night, we’ll spend our evenings docked at port. This will not only give us more time to dine ashore and enjoy those balmy Croatian evenings, but will afford us many more local dance opportunities! Cruising will mostly take place during the day.
  • Onshore activities and excursions will involve a bit of walking, often times over rough terrain. You’ll be visiting ancient sites and historical places, and at times you may have to cross cobbled streets and uneven ground, sometimes in hot conditions. If you have any concerns, please speak to your group leader before taking part.
  • If you’re concerned about seasickness, there are seasickness tablets on-board. The ship will experience some roll and pitch in choppy conditions, however all of our ships come equipped with stabilizers to minimize movement. Most of our departures run in peak season, when the seas are calmer. Your crew will do all they can to minimize any discomfort.
  • There are no lifts (elevators) on-board our ships, so you’ll have to navigate a few steep flights of stairs. Handrails are always available.

Cancellation Policy

  • Should you cancel less than 14 days of booking and greater than 180 days before the trip, you get a 100% refund of total cost minus a $150 admin fee.
  • Should you cancel after 14 days of booking and up to 180 days before the trip you will get a 50% refund of total cost minus the $150 admin fee.

Day 1: Trogir to Hvar

Day 1: Trogir to Hvar image

Day 1: Trogir to Hvar (Sept 5)

  • Embarkation begins at 1:00 PM in Trogir, where we board our ship, Carpe Diem, and settle into our cabins. Trogir is a UNESCO World Heritage town with a beautifully preserved historic center shaped by Roman, medieval, and Venetian influences, making it an ideal starting point for our Adriatic journey. Split Airport is just a short drive away, making Trogir an especially convenient and ideal location to begin our Adriatic cruise.

  • Once all guests are onboard, Carpe Diem departs Trogir and begins sailing south along the Dalmatian Coast. Lunch is served onboard as we cruise past islands and open sea, allowing time to relax, enjoy the views, and ease into the rhythm of life at sea.

  • During the afternoon sail, we make our first swim stop in a sheltered bay, a refreshing introduction to the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic. After time for swimming and relaxing on the deck, we continue sailing toward Hvar Island.

  • Later in the day, we arrive in Stari Grad, one of the oldest towns in Croatia, founded by the ancient Greeks more than 2,400 years ago. Set deep within a protected bay, Stari Grad is known for its peaceful atmosphere, stone streets, and authentic Mediterranean character. The nearby Stari Grad Plain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserves an ancient agricultural landscape that has remained largely unchanged since Greek times, adding to the town’s unique sense of place.

  • The evening is free. You may choose to rent a bicycle and enjoy a ride along Stari Grad Bay, explore the old town on foot, or simply relax by the waterfront. Dinner is on your own, with many local restaurants offering fresh seafood and traditional Dalmatian cuisine.

  • Overnight in Stari Grad.

Day 2: Hvar to Mljet

Day 2: Hvar to Mljet image

Day 2: Hvar to Mljet (Sept 6)

  • We sail in the morning from Stari Grad, enjoying a relaxed start to the day as breakfast is served onboard and the Adriatic coastline slowly unfolds around us. The route takes us south through open sea and island-dotted waters, offering a peaceful and scenic cruise.

  • During the sail, we make a swim stop in a beautiful, quiet bay, a refreshing opportunity to enjoy the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea before continuing toward southern Dalmatia.

  • As we continue sailing, lunch is served onboard, allowing time to relax on deck and enjoy the views as we approach one of Croatia’s most unspoiled islands.

  • Later in the day, we arrive at Mljet. After docking, we depart for Mljet National Park, which covers much of the island and is known for its dense forests, peaceful atmosphere, and remarkable natural beauty.

  • The remainder of the day is dedicated to exploring the national park at your own pace. One of the most popular options is to rent a bicycle and ride along the flat, well-maintained paths that circle the Great Lake and Small Lake, a rare and fascinating mix of fresh and salt water connected to the sea. The route is easy and scenic, passing through pine forests, stone walls, and quiet viewpoints.

  • From the Great Lake, you may also take a small boat to the Island of St Mary, home to a historic Benedictine monastery set on a small island in the middle of the lake, surrounded by still water and lush greenery.

  • The afternoon and evening are free to enjoy Mljet’s gorgeous natural surroundings, whether cycling, walking, swimming, or simply relaxing in this tranquil, protected landscape.

  • Overnight on Mljet.

Day 3: Dubrovnik

Day 3: Dubrovnik image

Mljet to Dubrovnik (Sept 7)

  • We sail in the morning from Mljet, enjoying the coastline and open sea as we continue south toward Dubrovnik. During the journey, we make a swim stop in a scenic bay, offering time to enjoy the clear Adriatic waters before the afternoon arrival.

  • As we sail onward, lunch is served onboard, allowing time to relax on deck and take in the views as we approach southern Dalmatia.

  • Later in the day, we arrive in Dubrovnik and dock at Gruž Port, the city’s main port. From here, we take the public bus into the Old Town, an easy and authentic way to reach the historic center.

  • Once inside the Old Town, time is dedicated to exploring Dubrovnik, often called the Pearl of the Adriatic. A must-do experience is walking the Dubrovnik City Walls, which completely encircle the city and offer panoramic views of the red-roofed houses, Fort Lovrijenac, and the Adriatic Sea.

  • After the wall walk, there is free time to enjoy the city at your own pace. You may stroll along Stradun, explore the narrow side streets of the Old Town, or visit landmarks such as Rector’s Palace or Sponza Palace. For a unique local experience, you may also stop at Buža Bar, a famous cliffside bar hidden outside the city walls, known for its dramatic views over the sea.

  • Those interested can also take the cable car to Mount Srđ for sweeping views over Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands. The evening is free to enjoy dinner in the city, with many excellent restaurants located both inside and just outside the Old Town.

  • Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 4: Korčula

Day 4: Korčula image

Day 4: Korčula (Sept 8)

  • We sail in the morning from Dubrovnik, enjoying the open Adriatic as we head north toward the island of Korčula. During the journey, we make a swim stop in a clear, inviting bay, offering time to relax and enjoy the sea.

  • As we continue sailing, lunch is served onboard, allowing time to unwind on deck and take in the coastal scenery as we approach one of Dalmatia’s most charming towns.

  • Later in the day, we arrive in Korčula, often referred to as “Little Dubrovnik” because of its fortified walls, towers, and compact medieval layout. The beautifully preserved Old Town is arranged in a distinctive fishbone street pattern designed to provide shelter from wind and sun.

  • Time is dedicated to exploring Korčula Old Town at your own pace. Highlights include visiting St Mark’s Cathedral, the town’s most important landmark, set on the main square and built from local stone. You may also choose to learn more about Marco Polo, who is traditionally believed to have been born in Korčula, with several sites in town linked to his life and legacy.

  • For those who wish to be more active, there is another opportunity to rent bicycles and enjoy a scenic ride from Korčula Town toward the nearby village of Lumbarda, passing vineyards, olive groves, and coastal views along the way. Lumbarda is also known for its sandy beaches and local white wine, making it a pleasant destination before returning to town.

  • The evening is free to enjoy Korčula, with many excellent restaurants and wine bars tucked into the old streets and along the waterfront.

  • Overnight in Korčula.

Day 5: Korčula to Vis

Day 5: Korčula to Vis image

Day 5: Korčula to Vis (Sept 9)

  • We sail in the morning from Korčula, enjoying a relaxed cruise across open Adriatic waters as we head toward one of Croatia’s most intriguing islands. During the journey, we make a swim stop in a beautiful bay, offering time to enjoy the clear sea and the unspoiled surroundings.

  • As we continue sailing, lunch is served onboard, allowing time to relax on deck and take in the views as we approach Vis.

  • Later in the day, we arrive on Vis, an island with a truly unique history. Until 1990, Vis was closed to foreign visitors and served as a strategic military base, which helped preserve its authentic character and untouched landscapes. Because of this isolation, Vis feels noticeably different from other Dalmatian islands, quieter, less developed, and deeply connected to its past.

  • Vis is also known as one of the filming locations for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and fans may recognize parts of the island from the movie’s coastal scenes. Beyond cinema, the island is rich in history, from ancient Greek origins to military tunnels, old fortresses, and traditional stone villages.

  • The afternoon and evening are free to explore at your own pace. You may wander through the harbor town, relax by the sea, or take advantage of another opportunity to rent bicycles and ride along quiet coastal roads, passing vineyards, stone walls, and small coves that define Vis’s rural landscape.

  • The evening is free to enjoy dinner on your own, with several excellent local restaurants offering fresh seafood and island specialties.

  • Overnight on Vis.

Day 6: Vis to Milna

Day 6: Vis to Milna image

Day 6: Vis to Milna (Sept 10)

  • We sail in the morning from Vis, enjoying a leisurely cruise north through the Adriatic. During the journey, we make a swim stop in a peaceful bay, offering time to cool off in the clear water and enjoy one last extended swim before returning toward the mainland.

  • As we continue sailing, lunch is served onboard, allowing time to relax on deck, enjoy the sea breeze, and take in the surrounding views.

  • Later in the day, we arrive in Milna, a beautiful and traditional Dalmatian village located on the western side of Brač. Milna is known for its stone houses, historic harbor, and relaxed local atmosphere, offering a glimpse into everyday island life away from crowds.

  • The remainder of the day is intentionally unstructured. This is a perfect place to slow down, find a quiet café by the water, read a book, take an easy walk through the village, or simply relax and enjoy the calm surroundings. The gentle pace of Milna makes it an ideal setting to unwind as the cruise begins to wind down.

  • The evening is free to enjoy dinner in the village, with a selection of small, family-run restaurants serving classic Dalmatian dishes.

  • Overnight in Milna.

Day 7: Milna to Split

Day 7: Milna to Split image

Day 7: Milna to Split (Sept 11)

  • We sail in the morning from Milna toward Split, arriving in Croatia’s second-largest city and one of the most historically significant places on the Adriatic coast.

  • Time is dedicated to exploring the heart of Split, centered around Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most remarkable Roman monuments still in daily use. Walking through its courtyards, cellars, narrow streets, and lively squares offers a fascinating blend of ancient history and modern city life, as homes, cafés, and shops are woven directly into the palace walls.

  • From the Old Town, those who wish may continue on a walk up to the viewpoint on Marjan Hill, a green oasis rising above the city. The paths are shaded by pine trees, and the viewpoint rewards the walk with sweeping views over Split, the surrounding islands, and the Adriatic Sea.

  • In the afternoon, we continue sailing back to Trogir, returning to the town where our cruise began. Upon arrival, there is free time to enjoy Trogir’s Old Town atmosphere, stroll along the waterfront, or explore the narrow stone streets and small squares one last time.

  • This evening is our final night onboard, with time to relax, reflect on the week, and begin packing for departure the following day.

  • Overnight onboard in Trogir.
