We will meet at the Meeting Point “PLAZA DE ARMAS” at 06:25 AM for a brief informational talk about the journey. At 06:50 AM, we will board the bus that will take us from Cusco to the Hidroelectrica station, a trip that lasts approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes.
During the bus ride, we will enjoy stunning scenery, including the Sacred Valley of the Incas, high Andean landscapes, and the impressive snow-capped La Verónica at Abra Málaga. We will make several stops: at 08:15 AM, we’ll have a 40-minute break near Ollantaytambo (optional breakfast and restroom use, not included), and we’ll pass through the town of Ollantaytambo at 09:00 AM. At 10:10 AM, we will reach Abra Málaga, the highest point of the route, and begin our descent into the high jungle of Cusco.
At 11:20 AM, we’ll stop at the Huamanmarka Sector to buy snacks and use restrooms. Then, we’ll pass through Santa María at 12:00 PM and Santa Teresa at 12:50 PM. We’ll finally arrive at the Hidroelectrica station at 1:45 PM, where you will have the option of a countryside lunch (optional and not included).
At 2:00 PM, we’ll start the 11 km walk to Aguas Calientes, which will take between 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on each traveler’s pace. This trail will allow you to fully appreciate the nature of the area. We expect to arrive in Aguas Calientes around 5:00 PM, where you may head to the accommodation of your choice (not included in the package).
