JULY 27TH : ARRIVAL DAY – PRIVATE

Upon arrival to Baltra Island you naturalist guide will wait for you in the arrivals hall and take you to your first visit on Santa Cruz Island. You will be transferred from Seymour airport by an airport bus (10 min ride) and a ferry ride (5min) to the northside of Santa Cruz where will take our transportation to our first visit to the highlands of Santa Cruz where we will have a great opportunity to get close to giant tortoises roaming in their natural habitat. Explore a cavernous underground Lava Tunnel where you can view one of the geological wonders of our volcanic islands. The rest of the afternoon you are free to enjoy the island by yourself (depending on your flight arrival time)

JULY 28TH : NORTH SEYMOUR ISLAND  (L) – SHARING

On day 2 & 4  you will visit any one island of the below list. Depending on your departure and availability the visits of the islands will vary. Each island is unique in itself and has different highlights to offer. This is an amazing chance to reach out to inhabited islands in the archipelago. Each day tour will include lunch onboard, a walking and a snorkeling activity to maximize your experience.

NORTH SEYMOUR

AM: North Seymour Island was lifted from the ocean floor by a seismic event, reason why its low, flat profile.  Swallow-tailed gulls sit perched in ledges of the cliffs only a few meters high form the shoreline. A forest of Palo Santo trees stand just above the landing site, usually without leaves, waiting for the rain to bring them into bloom. Amongst the emblematic fauna of the island you will be able to see sea lions, land iguanas and blue footed boobies.  The trail turns inland where you will find active and dynamic colonies of both species of “magnificent” and “great” frigate birds.

PM: Las Bachas, a beautiful coralline beach located on the north shore of Santa Cruz Island, is the perfect place for practicing snorkeling, swimming or to simply enjoy the white soft sand. Several brackish lagoons only a few steps away from the sea are the feeding grounds of various wading birds, from stilts to flamingos.

JULY 29TH   SANTA CRUZ – FREE DAY / TORTUGA BAY BEACH & CHARLES DARWIN FOUNDATION

Today you have free day to enjoy by your own to magnificent places.

Tortuga bay beach, a 45 minute walk on a cobblestone path (2.5 km one way) leads you to fine a white sandy beach common in the archipelago. An endemic forest of the tall Opuntia Cactus and volcanic rock surrounds the path making the view from the trek beautiful and mysterious. Throughout your walk you can spot finches, yellow warblers, mockingbirds, and lava lizards. Once there, it is an excellent place for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or surfing. Marine iguanas, sharks, sea birds and sea turtles can be spotted here.

JULY 30TH :BARTOLOME / SULLIVAN BAY (L) - SHARING

BARTOLOME / SULLIVAN BAY

AM: Bartolome offers one of the most emblematic sceneries of the Galapagos Islands. A 600 – meter pathway complete with stairs and a boardwalk will take you to the highest point of the island where you will be able to learn first hand about the volcanic origins of the Galapagos Islands.

After the walk a dingy ride along the coastline will give you the opportunity to see the Galapagos penguin. This curious bird nest amongst the fissured lava flows and ventures into the crystal clear waters of Bartolome to fish.

PM: After a short ride on board the yacht, you will disembark en Sullivan Bay on the north eastern side of James Islands. The huge eruption that happened in this place in the late 1800s is clear evidence of the volcanic past of the islands.  You will be able to do snorkeling in the peaceful waters of Sullivan Bay.

- Dry landing / Wet landing

Reviews

Juan went above and beyond to fulfil our requests for this trip. We really wanted to see the penguins and Juan made this happen. Martin was a very informative, helpful, friendly and professional tour guide. He really tried to help us see the wildlife and was very thorough with the snorkelling. The boat was beautiful with lovely snacks, food, tea and coffee. Overall we enjoyed this tour and learning about Bartolomé Island. The viewpoint was beautiful and really would recommend this tour for people interested in Bartolomé island, the geological formations and photography. Thanks again!

GalaTrails director Juan Elaje and his team made sure that our time in Galapagos was meaningful and effortless. Our transportation was all pre-arranged by GalaTrails, including bus and ferry from Seymour Baltra Airport to the main island of Santa Cruz, trucks and vans to our various hotels throughout the week, and also our tours, which included land (bus) and water components (yacht with 16 total tourists). Communication was easy and consistent, and we had no issues with payment. With GalaTrails's guidance and a bit of luck, our family (adults and children) had amazing up-close with giant tortoises, sea lions, flamingos, blue-footed boobies, frigates, sea turles, lava tunnesls, and much more. We had a true Galapagos adventure, and we highly recommend Juan Elaje and his team. Thank you, Jeff, for always being available to help too.
