This three-day retreat, for men only, will introduce participants to the ancient art and science of rhetoric in both theory and practice. The retreat is limited to eighteen participants. The focus will be on applying ancient rhetoric in modern professional, business and social activities.  There will be some preparatory online instruction during the month prior to the retreat. Dr. Alex Petkas, Dr. Eric Hewett and an assistant teacher will lead the retreat.The retreat will take place at the Estate at Crystal Creek, a retreat center in the hills west of Austin, Texas. A variety of housing options are available.Alumni of the retreat will qualify to join The Rostra, an exclusive training circle for on-going practice and improvement in rhetoric.

Excellent retreat.  The accessibility and patience of the instructors as well as the focus on networking and leveraging our connections was a real bonus, to the already stellar format of field visits, classroom time, and time to practice.  Honestly, I wouldn't change much except to get box fans in the rooms. Fantastic experience!

It was a fantastic experience. You get a much richer picture of Roman history than a trip to Rome alone would provide. The rhetoric exercises also strengthen the group feeling and ensure that the group as a whole develops strongly.

The retreat took place in a fantastic location that perfectly set the tone for a transformative experience. The hosts were amazing, brimming with knowledge and able to provide clear direction throughout the retreat. The diverse group of attendees brought a vibrant energy, enhancing the overall experience. The retreat managed to strike a perfect balance, being serious yet laid-back, truly embodying the ideals of otium. Highly recommended!

My son had a great time during this school trip organized by Polymnia. The schedule offered a carefully planned mix of visits to historical landmarks and free time to explore further. The accommodations were very well-appointed, and the restaurants provided a unique culinary experience. Thank you for putting together such a wonderful and memorable experience for my son.

We will complete our retreat, pack up and depart the retreat venue.
