From there, you’ll hike into the Misicocha reserve — a primary forest rich with towering trees, thick foliage, and an extraordinary mix of flora and fauna. Your local guide will help spot native plants and animal tracks along the way.
Back on the river, you’ll try your hand at traditional rafting in local-style wooden canoes, drifting downstream with the current. After lunch at the lodge, you’ll set off again by canoe — this time to visit the Amazoonico Rescue Centre. This facility houses animals rescued from illegal trafficking or deforestation, and gives you the chance to see monkeys, parrots, ocelots, caimans and more while learning about their rehabilitation.

Next, travel to Guango Lodge, a peaceful spot known for its hummingbird sanctuary. Set within cloud forest, the area is home to dozens of species, making it a favourite among wildlife photographers. Sit with a coffee as birds dart and hover just metres away, even in misty weather.
