Despite problems booking the tour, which cost me nearly $200 in extra currency exchange and bank fees the tour was well organised. We were always met by guides as per the program and in general they were friendly and professional. There was an excellent variety of activities during the program, ranging from snorkeling, kayaking, walks, visiting the tortoises and experiencing volcanos up close. By the end of the tour we felt we had seen most of the best attractions in the Galapagos. Wildlife included tortoises, sea lions, a wide variety of birds and lots of iguanas. While the snorkeling was a little disappointing this was not the fault of the tour as we had ample opportunities, but also we missed out on seeing any larger sharks. Generally the accommodation was adequate, without been outstanding, however we did chose the 3 star option and I appreciate accommodation is quite expensive on the Galapagos islands. On reflection not only are land tours generally cheaper but they also offer the advantage of being able to explore the towns in the evening. This was always very enjoyable. Breakfasts were always provided and were adequate. The final activity was a visit to Bartolome Island, which turned out to be a highlight and a great way to finish our activities. The scenery was amazing, but also the boat was extremely comfortable and their attention to detail was exceptional. The lunch was a good restaurant standard. Finally a couple of general observations about the tour. Firstly there was a mess up with breakfast one morning and this was very promptly addressed and this was a credit to the tour company. There are a.lot of early mornings but this is due to the timing of boat travel between islands and tour starts. The tour, and this was very clearly explained to us, was basically just a series of booked activities which are available to the public. Hence it is not a tour in the sense that you are with the same group throughout the tour.. We were happy with this but at times I was a little confused as sometimes we were on a private tour (just the two of us) and other times with larger group. While this is not a criticism in one case I had assumed we were about to embark on a private tour and we actually on a bus with a large group, and because I thought it was just the two of us we were not ready on time and held up the larger group. Finally there were some free times on a couple of the days, (I assume due to timing issues with tours) which was a godsend to us as we are both quite elderly but some consideration could be providing other options for younger persons embarking on this tour.
Overall, if your don't wish to have a fully organised tour and you don't wish to organise everything yourself, this is an excellent option.
