About this trip

Early morning pickup from 8:15 – 09:00 am, then we leave for Manifa Elephant Camp. On the way we stop at Ban Xang Hai, also known as Whisky Village. Here you can see the process of making lao lao, the country’s beloved rice whiskey and for some maybe even a early morning sample!.

About 10 AM, we arrive at our camp and start we start “HALF DAY – INTRODUCTION PROGRAM“. After a few important introductions and a brief orientation, you will get straight into interacting with the manifa elephants and start the mahout training program – get used to being close to and comfortable with one of the 17 elephants – share in the experience of cruelty free riding (optional bareneck or howdah) – join in the snacktime feeding and have the option of splashing around in the water with the elephants during one of their many daily bath time sessions. After finishing program, we enjoy a beautiful buffet style lunch at the restaurant – overlooking the Mekong river.

After lunch break, This adventure destination package takes you to the next destination Kuang Si Waterfall – you will have time to explore the three layered Kuang Si Waterfall walk the trails of the nature reserve and swim in the refreshing turquoise water pools and visit the bear rescue center. Loved our experience and the guide was informative.

We had the best time. Our elephant leader giving us the initial talk was so knowledgeable and passionate. The mahouts were lovely and took so many brilliant photos and videos that we will treasure forever. The elephants are clearly well loved and cared for. The food was fantastic also and all the staff were great including for the kayaking.

This was an excellent experience, with the opportunity to ride an elephant humanely (on his shoulders with no Howda). Lunch was delicious. Just make sure you ask what is happening next as we felt communication was a little lacking! It didn’t spoil the day though

Quite a long journey but really worth the effort. The plain of jars was a really amazing place. Really friendly people and great extra trips like the silk farm. Guide and driver were excellent and always intresting food to try along the way. The guest house we stayed at during our trip was very good.
