I'm very glad I hired Green Valley Trekking, they made the logistics so much easier than if I had tried to organize everything myself. The office staff were very responsive at answering my emails leading up to the trip, and the rides to and from the airport were very convenient. My guide (Karima? No idea how his name is spelled) was very sweet, always looking for ways to help me and checking in often to make sure I'm feeling ok. I have two nitpicks, but I'm still giving a 5-star review because so many things went right and it was overall such a smooth experience. 1: It would have been nice to have someone to guide us through the Kathmandu airport to catch the Lukla flight. The domestic terminal is extremely hectic and disorganized, and it would have been nice to have someone to point us in the right direction and reassure us that everything is under control. 2: It was often a little bit hard to understand my guide because he speaks softly and with an accent. I would hear most of his words and then piece together the rest of his sentence in my head. And while he had solid answers to my straightforward questions like "how far is it to ___", "how much elevation gain is this climb?" and "what mountain is that?", I couldn't get a straight answer to my more-unusual questions like "is the tea caffeinated?" and "when does fall foliage happen here?" His attentiveness, patience, and eagerness-to-help more than made up for the mild communication difficulties though, and if I ever go back to Nepal I would request Karima to be my guide again.

Visiting Nepal and doing a trek of the Everest region was a bucket list item and something I spent a year planning for. I found Green Valley online and read several reviews which were all positive. I have to say that the level of service I received was better than I had hoped for. I received immediate replies to all questions (I had many) and they were always succinct and professional. Communication was by email and WhatsApp and I found this very helpful and felt very supported. Upon my arrival in Kathmandu, things just got better. Visiting the Green Valley office which was a 1 minute walk from my hotel, I felt delighted to meet in person who I had been communicating with. From there the trip unfolded in the most magical of ways. Starting my journey I was met by my guide and porter, both who were lovely. The trek itself was a dream. Nepalese people are amazing an the region is beautiful. The trek was challenging but you feel supported the whole way. You only get to see how amazing a tour company is when things go wrong. For me, a fall and an injury put Green Valley to the test and they were able to support me immediately and ensuring that I was looked after and safe. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. They are amazing! Massive thank you to the entire team!

This was a fantastic trip. Raj and Arjun took care of the logistics when I changed my plans and extended the trip. My guide, Gokarna, and porter, Bishal, took such great care of me and were so patient and kind. I was able to helicopter back from Gorakshep which was another amazing experience.

The accommodation was very nice, but too far from anywhere to walk and have a look around the towns. And when the day’s guided activities finished at 3.30- 4pm, it would have been nice to use the rest of the day before dinner to have a look around by oneself. The guide and driver were both very nice, with decent command of English. The tour didn’t include all the activities specified in the itinerary I signed up to, which was a disappointment. So in Thimphu we didn’t visit the Folk Heritage Museum or the Tashichho Dzong. In Gangtey there was no nature trail walk, and the town of Wangdue Phodrang and it’s Dzong were completed omitted. In Paro we didn’t visit the Paro Dzong. Sadly the weather meant The Tigers Nest monastery and the trail up to it was closed and we didn't even get a glimpse of it! Given this meant we had a lot of time in Paro to kill, to miss the Dzong was an extra disappointment. I was sold the idea of a hot stone bath in lieu of going to tigers nest (completely paid for by me) and was taken to a cold shed with corrugated roof and had to wait nearly an hour for the bath to be ready. I was told this experience was an hour (maybe they meant including the wait for the bath to get to temperature) and I stayed in the bath for 20 minutes but because it was so hot, I fainted after I got out and banged my head. My guide was very sympathetic but the staff at the facility were nowhere to be seen. The food on my first day, was very good, and a taste of Bhutan, but after that it was ‘hot’ buffet style bland food in restaurants or hotels specifically for tour groups. It was generally not very good and not very hot, with plates in plate warmers that weren’t plugged in, so with cold plates too. I got food poisoning on my last day, from the hotel buffet. There seems to be different buffet establishments depending on your nationality, so we went to the ones aimed at Europeans/americans. Perhaps the ones for Indian and Bangladeshi tourists were tastier! Whoever you chose to tour with is suspect this will be your experience. Whoever Green Valley use to conduct this tour in Bhutan needs to read the itinerary notes, and with many hotels in the centre of Thimphu, Paro and Punakha they need to rethink the hotels they use. And sadly I did contact Green Valley with the above comments, but heard nothing back beyond ‘I will talk to our team in Bhutan’. FYI, I also didn’t receive the green valley merchandise as advertised, though I didn’t really want it, so not an issue, but if it’s important to you…

I completed the Gokyo Valley Circuit Trek (13 Days) with Green Valley, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The entire journey through the stunning Gokyo Lakes, the climb up Gokyo Ri, and the challenging but breathtaking Renjo La Pass was perfectly organized and absolutely worth it. A special thank you goes to my guide Amar, who made this trek exceptional. He took incredible care of me from the very first day—always attentive, always supportive, and always one step ahead of my needs. His professionalism, deep knowledge of the region, and calm, friendly personality made him the ideal companion for such an adventurous route. I felt safe, well-guided, and genuinely looked after throughout the entire trek. If you’re planning to explore the Gokyo region, I wholeheartedly recommend booking with Green Valley—and if possible, request Amar as your guide. He will make your trek not only memorable, but truly special.

Unforgettable experience The Green Valley team are a truly fantastic, incredibly supportive, well established and knowledgeable company who provide the highest level of service across the Himalaya. I was recommended Green Valley Treks through a work colleague and immediately enjoyed reading their great website, its clear and detailed itineraries. Comparing this to other companies made it an easy company to focus on. After contacting Arjun, one of the owners, with my many questions via WhatsApp I knew this was the company for myself. His responses were clear, prompt and answered all of my queries - no matter what time of day! This made the pre - trip planning a smooth process. After arriving to a warm Nepalese welcome with our pre-arranged airport transfer service felt very special and already apart of the Green Valley team. We were then greeted by Arjun in person at our hotel, despite the late hour following our international flight delay, and he assisted us with finalising our porters and essential gear for the trip addressing any last minute questions we may have had. Bishwa Rai, our senior guide for the trip truly made our experience. Representing Green Valley’s values and vision for its clients perfectly throughout our trek with his kind, caring and compassionate nature truly highlighted his passion for the job as well as his desire to connect us on a deeper level with Nepal. Having the opportunity to walk along side him on our journey to EBC was a true privilege. His long-standing experience as a guide also made my journey more enjoyable as he was able to recommend the prime time to take photos and where to find the best local foods. As beautiful as the Khumbu Valley is, the friendship I built with Bishwa was the highlight of my trip. Throughout the journey I felt incredibly well supported by the team and if any logistical planning needed to be completed Bishwa was fantastic at navigating these challenges independently to assist us in a smooth journey, particularly when the weather may play into effect on our flights in/out of Lukla airport. In summary, Green Valley Treks __ are the number one Trekking company I would recommend to anybody visiting the Himalaya. Their service was phenomenal and worth every cent. I look forward to using them again to Trek the three passes and some other beginner summits as my skill level increases. Thankyou Bishwa, you made my experience!
