About this trip

Peaksandposes is heading back to Shenandoah cause it's such an AMAZING park. We're going to explore Shenandoah National Park where 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail runs through. While just 75 miles south of DC, Shenandoah is the home of beautiful vistas, cragged mountains, lush waterfalls, wildflowers, and a whole lot more.

Our stay includes 2 fully equipped 2 bedroom cabins in Shenandoah River State Park (1600 acres).  Our cabins include:  hot water, a shared bathroom, heat/ac, a kitchen, an indoor fireplace, an outdoor fire pit, and more. Cabins allow a maximum of six and both have 2 bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen bed (for a single or couple) and the other bedroom has two sets of bunk beds (that sleep four total).

Upon arrival, we'll have a welcome lunch in Fairfax, VA before we head to our campground. We'll provide transportation to the campground and our days will be filled with early morning walks in the beautiful Shenandoah River Campground, guided hikes in Shenandoah National Park, yoga practices (optional), and more.

Nourish yourself with home made plant focused meals prepared daily by Peaksandposes chef/hiker, Majid . We cater to dietary restrictions.

Additional details about each day will follow but we will plan on hiking Old Rag, the highest and coolest hike in Shenandoah. We'll plan for a waterfall hike and other hikes with the best scenery possible.

I am a four season peak bagger in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. I am exploring the Adirondacks of New York as well as Colorado 14'ers. My longest backpacking trip was 18 days on the John Muir Trail with a grand finale hiking Mt. Whitney! I am a Certified Health Coach and yoga instructor leading people to uplevel their health and reinvent themself. I am the most content outside hiking with my friends. I enjoy staying active through yoga, biking, x-country skiing and cooking seasonal plant based food.

Spring has spring and my adventure to Shenandoah State Park in Virginia to hike was amazing. Three days of hiking with beautiful scenery at White Creek Upper Falls Canyon and views of Stony Mountain Loop. Four women experienced hikers used our upper and lower body strength, and foot work to cover a vast range of boulders to see the amazing views from the top of Old Rag Mountain. We stayed in a camp site that had high end cabins to stay in. Beautiful early morning walks around the camp site. Daily yoga to keep our bodies stretched out for the next hike. Wonder full plant-based meals were prepared for the group. I came away with seeing seasoned hiking women who shared the love of nature and each other’s friendships. Thank you, Nancy, for a great hiking trip. Experienced hiker from Boston.

Fabulous trip! This was such a well-planned week by the organizer, Nancy Wind of Peaks and Poses. I had heard about PeaksandPoses through a friend and signed up for the Colorado hiking trip having never met Nancy! It was so easy to get to know the other hikers and Nancy has the perfect combination of knowledge, experience, patience and optimism. The accommodations were spectacular. The house was clean, spacious and met all of the needs of the group. Nancy and Magid had the very best meals planned each day and they made that part seamless. We went on a variety of hikes with different terrain. I had some hiking experience and the group made me feel comfortable. During one of the hikes, I needed to take a break and Nancy's gentle guidance and pace kept me going. I highly recommend any of the hikes, classes or workshops with Peaks and Poses.

I’ve been on several weekend trips in New England with Nancy (Peaks and Poses), and when I saw that she was offering a longer retreat in Colorado, I knew I had to sign up! The trip was amazing, exceeding expectations. The home we stayed in was gorgeous with sweeping views of the Colorado mountains, the people were wonderful, the meals were delicious and healthy, and each day we had a perfect blend of outdoor physical activity plus yoga and quiet time.
