About this trip

Peaksandposes is heading back to Shenandoah cause it's such an AMAZING park. We're going to explore Shenandoah National Park where 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail runs through. While just 75 miles south of DC, Shenandoah is the home of beautiful vistas, cragged mountains, lush waterfalls, wildflowers, and a whole lot more.

Our stay includes 2 fully equipped 2 bedroom cabins in Shenandoah River State Park (1600 acres).  Our cabins include hot water, a shared bathroom, heat/ac, a kitchen, an indoor fireplace, an outdoor fire pit, and more. Cabins allow a maximum of six and both have 2 bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen bed (for a single or couple) and the other bedroom has two sets of bunk beds (that sleep four total).

Upon arrival, we'll have a welcome lunch in Fairfax, VA before we head to our campground. We'll provide transportation to the campground and our days will be filled with early morning walks in the beautiful Shenandoah River Campground, guided hikes in Shenandoah National Park, yoga practices (optional), and more.

Nourish yourself with homemade plant-focused meals prepared daily by Peaksandposes chef/hiker, Majid. We cater to dietary restrictions.

Additional details about each day will follow but we will plan on hiking Old Rag, the highest and coolest hike in Shenandoah. We'll plan for a waterfall hike and other hikes with the best scenery possible.

You should be in good hiking shape to hike 5-7 miles on average for 3 days straight.

I am a four season peak bagger in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. I am exploring the Adirondacks of New York as well as Colorado 14'ers. My longest backpacking trip was 18 days on the John Muir Trail with a grand finale hiking Mt. Whitney! I am a Certified Health Coach and yoga instructor leading people to uplevel their health and reinvent themself. I am the most content outside hiking with my friends. I enjoy staying active through yoga, biking, x-country skiing and cooking seasonal plant based food.

I had an amazing time on this retreat led by Nancy and Cynthia! A beautiful setting, delicious meals, fireside conversation at night, fun activities including yoga, dancing, Thai partner massage, meditation and hiking. I learned more about Ayurveda and living a healthy life. This was a wonderful group of women coming together to connect and enjoy time away. I can’t wait to be part of this again! Thank you!

The Self-Care retreat was a wonderful getaway. Setu is a beautiful setting, and a lovely home away from home run by a devoted couple. Nancy and Cynthia lead a well-balanced retreat that included meditation, yoga, a choice of hikes, shared meals, optional massages, and 'me time.' Everything was considered optional, so each person could choose their own pace. It was nice to meet a great group of women and have a chance to chat and get to know one another, but also have time to settle in a quiet corner to read or relax. This was my second trip lead by Nancy, and it was as great as the first.

We had an amazing time with Nancy and Peaks & Poses. This was my third trip with the group. It’s my favorite way to travel. I just show up and everything else is taken care of. Food is delicious, hikes well planned and other participants are always a joy!
