Breakfast and 4 dinners or lunch
On arrival at your home for the week at the boutique winery close by in the countryside of Florence you will be greeted by your host from Alma Italia Travel. For the next 7 nights you will be staying in the converted farmhouse of a beautiful Tuscan vineyard and olive farm in the heart of the Chianti Classico producing region. Spend the afternoon taking a swim in one of the two stunning outdoor pools with a panoramic hilltop view overlooking the Chianti scenery, followed by sunset drinks on the terrace before dinner at the farm's own restaurant. Bliss!
To allow a relaxing morning breakfast and time by the pool, your tour host will meet you at your hotel later in the morning to transport you to Florence, the beating heart of Tuscany and capital of Renaissance Italy. Here you can choose to join your tour host for a guided city walk to introduce the city of Florence and some of it's treasures.
Later on enjoy free time to stroll through the back streets or visit the museums, galleries and churches that make Florence so unique.
In the late afternoon your host will escort you back to your home for a relaxing dinner in the winery restaurant.
On this idyllic Authentic Italy tour day you will meet a family at the heart of Tuscan life at one of the most historic and prestigious olive groves in all of Tuscany, run by the same family for 200 years from their Renaissance villa high on a hill overlooking Florence, reportedly the birthplace of the mother of the Mona Lisa.
The Calamai family have produced olives here on the first hills outside Florence for more than 200 years. Your hosts will recount to you some of the fascinating history of the family and the villa while you try some of the freshly pressed oil. After a look around the farm and villa, and perhaps even an encounter with 'Baffo' the goat, Eleonora, ‘la Mamma’ and expert Tuscan cook, will take you into the kitchens of the beautiful villa overlooking Florence for a cooking class to share with you some of their family secret traditional Tuscan recipes.
For those in your group who aren’t keen to get involved in the kitchen, another glass of wine, or perhaps more wisely, a good espresso can be enjoyed under the shade of the pine trees in the garden overlooking Florence.
Lunch will be in the garden of the villa or the historic frescoed dining room. What could be a more satisfying way to spend a lazy afternoon than feasting on the fruit of your labours enjoyed with a sprinkling of 0 km’s fresh oil and a bottle of wine that we picked up in the morning from your new friends.
After a relaxing morning your Alma Italia Travel guide will take you by private transport first to meet the Davaz family, the passionate owners of an organic Chianti classico vineyard. Now run by the second and third generation, the family originally hailing from neighbouring Switzerland, runs the vineyard with Swiss precision and Italian soul. You will be able to sample at least four or five of their beautifully crafted wines and take a tour of their cleverly designed cellar, hidden in the hill of the vineyard. They will lead you on a stroll through the vines up the hill so you can see spectacular views across the Tuscan hills back towards Florence and the mountains beyond. This is the Tuscan countryside at its most glorious. If you are lucky you might even see some deer or wild boar roaming through the vines.
After a light lunch at the vineyard, in the late afternoon, we will take a trip to Lucca for an evening stroll and a bike ride around the walls of this ancient fortified town, a jewel of Tuscany. Lucca is full of interesting boutiques, beautiful architecture and delicious restaurants. For us this is one of the most atmospheric cities in all of Tuscany and will surely be an evening to remember!
Today we will head to Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast to enjoy a day experiencing some of the best wine tasting in Italy amongst the vines while gazing out over the blue mediterranean sea on the horizon.
In the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet and indigenous Tuscan grapes create a uniquely Italian accent on these grapes more often associated with France.
After a tour of the cellar of one of the regions most spectacular wineries and a stroll through the vines, of course, sampling the different blends, we can head down to the beach for a classic Italian beachside lunch and perhaps another glass of something local and fresh.
After a relax at the beach we will visit another boutique winery in the area before wandering around the enchanting alleys Castegnato Carducci, of one of the hilltop villages that define the Bolgheri region. Depending on the season we can watch the sunset into the ocean before you will be taken by your private driver back home in time for dinner.
Enjoy a slow morning with a late breakfast and time to relax and enjoy the panoramic outdoor pool with incredible Chianti vineyard views. For those who want to be pampered by different wellness treatments, the hotel offers a range of spa treatments. Lux Travel wine tours in Tuscany should be relaxing after all!
Your tour host and driver will arrive later to take you to Siena for lunch at a traditional ' Trattoria'.
To help walk off lunch, after your guide will give you a walking tour of wonderful Siena. Built on three hills and surrounded by well preserved walls, Siena is filled with fine examples of Gothic architecture and has one of the world’s most unique piazzas, Piazza dal Campo, dominated by the greatest Gothic building in Tuscany, the Palazzo Pubblico.
On your last day we will return to Florence fo a guided tour of it's famous food markets. You will be able to enjoy the finest typical Italian food for lunch and perhaps purchase some treats to take home with you!
The afternoon will be free for you to explore the charming streets of Florence at your own pace and shop at some of it's unique boutiques.
Before heading home we will make sure there is also time for a local favourite...gelato of course! We've saved the best until last!
You will then be taken home for one last delivious dinner at the farm restaurant.
