Arrival & Chasing the Light

Welcome to the Faroe Islands!

After arriving and settling into our hotel, we'll ease into island life with our first taste of the dramatic landscapes that make this place so special. Depending on arrival times and conditions, we'll head out for an evening adventure and our first sunset photography session.

This is the perfect opportunity to get to know your camera, meet your fellow adventurers, and learn how to notice the beautiful light around you.

Our photographer will introduce some simple photography tips to help you start capturing the landscape — no complicated equipment or experience required.

We'll finish the day with a delicious meal and that feeling of I can't believe we're actually here.

Photography focus: Getting comfortable with your camera, composition basics, and golden hour.

Vágar: Waterfalls, Sea Stacks & Fairytale Villages

Today, we explore the spectacular island of Vágar — a place where mountains meet the ocean and seemingly impossible landscapes are around every corner.

We'll begin at Lake Sørvágsvatn, the famous lake that appears to float high above the sea. We'll take our time with the walk and photograph the dramatic relationship between water, cliffs, and ocean.

From there, we'll explore some of the Faroe Islands' most iconic scenery:

  • Múlafossur Waterfall — a spectacular waterfall plunging directly into the Atlantic.

  • Bøur — a charming village with traditional grass-roofed houses and incredible views toward the sea stacks.

  • Gásadalur — a tiny village tucked beneath towering mountains.

  • Drangarnir — the dramatic sea stacks rising from the ocean.

Throughout the day, we'll pause for photography lessons and creative challenges, learning how to capture waterfalls with movement, frame landscapes with intention, and find the details that make a photograph feel like a story.

Photography focus: Shutter speed with waterfalls, landscape composition, and capturing dramatic scale.

Streymoy: Colorful Streets & Wild Landscapes

Today we explore Streymoy, home to the colorful capital of Tórshavn and some of the most enchanting landscapes in the islands.

We'll start in Tórshavn, where we'll wander the historic streets of Tinganes. Think colorful wooden houses, narrow lanes, charming details, and a harbor full of character.

This is also the perfect setting for a fun portrait photography lesson. We'll learn how to use natural light, find flattering backgrounds, and capture beautiful, relaxed portraits of one another — because you deserve to be in the photos, too!

After exploring the city, we'll head into the countryside to discover:

  • Saksun — one of the most picturesque villages in the Faroes, surrounded by mountains and a beautiful tidal lagoon.

  • Tjørnuvík — a dramatic coastal village with sweeping ocean views.

  • Café Sólja — a cozy stop for pancakes and a warm drink.

  • Pollurin — a beautiful natural setting to explore and photograph.

  • Fossá — the Faroe Islands' famous multi-tiered waterfall.

We'll take our time enjoying the contrast between the colorful city and the wild, open landscapes of the islands.

Photography focus: Portraits in natural light, iPhone photography, and creating beautiful images in everyday places.

Kalsoy: Lighthouse Dreams & the Seal Woman

Today is one for the adventure lovers.

We'll journey to Kalsoy, an island of dramatic mountains, narrow roads, and some of the most unforgettable views in the Faroes.

Our adventure takes us to Kallur Lighthouse, reached by a scenic hike from Trollanes. With rugged cliffs, sweeping ocean views, and the lighthouse perched above the sea, this is the kind of place that makes you stop in your tracks.

We'll take our time on the hike, photograph the landscape from different perspectives, and enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by nothing but mountains, sky, and ocean.

We'll also visit Mikladalur, home to the famous Seal Woman statue and one of the Faroe Islands' most beloved legends.

This is a day for big landscapes, little details, and photographs that feel like they belong in a storybook.

Photography focus: Landscape storytelling, photographing people in epic landscapes, and working with changing light.

Eysturoy: Mountain Views & Mythical Sea Stacks

Today we head to Eysturoy, where mountains rise dramatically from the sea and traditional villages sit peacefully among the landscape.

We'll begin in Gjógv, a beautiful village known for its natural gorge, colorful houses, and incredible coastal scenery.

From there, we'll explore:

  • Funningur Church — a charming traditional church surrounded by dramatic mountains.

  • Slættaratindur — views toward the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands.

  • Risin og Kellingin — the legendary Giant and Witch sea stacks, rising from the Atlantic.

  • Eiðiskollur — a dramatic coastal viewpoint with unforgettable scenery.

This is a wonderful day to experiment with composition and perspective. We'll look for leading lines, layers of mountains, reflections, and the little details that turn a beautiful view into a beautiful photograph.

Photography focus: Landscape composition, perspective, and capturing the relationship between mountains, sea, and sky.

Suðuroy: Cliffs, Ocean & One Last Adventure

Our final full day takes us to the southern island of Suðuroy, where we'll experience some of the wildest coastal scenery in the archipelago.

We'll explore Beinisvørð, one of the Faroe Islands' most spectacular sea cliffs. Towering above the ocean, the cliffs offer sweeping views and a powerful reminder of just how wild this corner of the world can be.

We'll take time to photograph the landscape, enjoy the views, and soak up our final day of island adventure.

Depending on ferry schedules, weather, and timing, we'll make the most of our time on Suðuroy and enjoy a special final evening together.

Photography focus: Dramatic landscapes, photographing in changing weather, and capturing the feeling of a place.

Heading Home!

All good things must come to an end!

After breakfast, we'll say goodbye to the Faroe Islands and head home with full hearts, full camera rolls, and hopefully a whole new appreciation for the art of capturing the world around us.

You'll leave with incredible memories, new photography skills, and a collection of photographs that tell the story of your adventure.

And perhaps a serious desire to book the next trip.
