You may not know it, but Vermont is in my blood, and when I came across Sterling Forest Lodge, I knew it had to be the location for my first domestic retreat.
Growing up, my grandparents lived in Vermont, and I spent countless years exploring all that Vermont had to offer. In the spring, I’d go foraging through the woods around my grandparents house for berries. In the summer, I’d go to sleep listening to the toads croaking in the pond after a full day of swimming and catching salamanders.
But fall was by far my favorite season - there’s nothing quite like looking out at the ridgeline as the colors change, basking in the heat of the sun during the day, and cuddling up with a good book by the fire as soon as the sun goes down.
Vermont is a place where you can be wild and free, and yet are held by the grounding force of the forest and trees.
It’s here that we’ll find our footing as the seasons change, and Feel Into Fall with both ease and stability. Fall - a season of transition. A time when we’re moving from the ease and lightness of summer, towards structured schedules and shorter days.
It’s a transition that can feel unsteady and uneasy. On this retreat, you’re invited to Feel Into Fall. We’ll spend the weekend finding ease (sukha, in Sanskrit) and sthira (stability), as we navigate this transition in our bodies, minds, hearts, and lives.
Nestled in the forest outside of Stowe, Vermont, Sterling Forest Lodge is our home for the long weekend. Each room has been thoughtfully designed using local materials with inspiration drawn from the natural world.
Each room boasts the name of a tree that can be found in the forests surrounding the property. Local Vermont bath products are stocked in each bathroom, and all of the linens, towels and mattresses are organic.
The team at Sterling Forest has thought through every detail, big and small, to allow you to feel comfortable and at ease during our stay.
We’ll spend each morning practicing an active hatha / vinyasa yoga class before sitting down together at the communal table in the Great Room to enjoy a hearty, vegetarian breakfast.
On Friday, we’ll gather after breakfast to learn more about the land with Blake Whitman, co-owner of Sterling Forest Lodge, who will lead us through a 90 minute mindful outdoor experience.
Lunch and free-time will follow, with plenty of time for you to cozy up in the great room with a book, walk through the forest, explore the quaint town of Stowe, or simply REST.
There are so many ways for you to feel into fall in this magical space.
