Modifying Necklines: All you need to know to adjust them (with case studies) with Joji Locatelli
For intermediate knitters (participants should be comfortable modifying patterns)
Necklines can completely transform a sweater: its style, its fit, and how it feels to wear. In this in-depth workshop, we will explore how to confidently modify necklines so they reflect your personal vision and work beautifully within different sweater constructions.
Through clear explanations and practical case studies, you will learn how to:
Modify a classic crew neck raglan into a flattering V-neck.
Raise, lower or widen a crew neckline in a set-in sleeve sweater with shoulder seams.
Adjust a V-neck (make it wider, narrower, higher, or deeper) in a sweater with shoulder seams.
Design and shape a boat neck in both set-in sleeve and raglan constructions.
Use short rows in circular yoke sweaters to lower the front neckline, including understanding their structural limitations.
Use short rows in raglan sweaters to lower the front neckline, and when this approach works best.
By the end of the workshop, you will understand not only how to modify necklines, but also why certain techniques work better in specific constructions, giving you the tools to approach your future sweater projects with clarity and confidence.
The Joy of Brioche Stitch with Veera Välimäki
For intermediate knitters
Come demystify the graphic world of brioche stitch with me! This workshop is designed for intermediate knitters, focusing on the structure, mechanics, and design possibilities of this squishy, architectural stitch pattern.
During the workshop we will begin a small, modern sampler scarf that will teach us the rhythmic logic of working two colours flat, maintaining clean edges, and reading your stitches with confidence. We will then dive into fabric sculpting, mastering the essential increases and decreases that bend brioche columns into stunning geometric shapes.
We will also cover essential troubleshooting: how to spot mistakes, use lifelines, and safely ladder down to fix dropped stitches. We’ll wrap up with a look at brioche yarn theory and key finishing touches that dramatically transform your fabric.
This workshop covers:
Two-color brioche mechanics and rhythmic logic.
Shaping: Left/right decreases and foundational increases.
Troubleshooting: Fixing dropped stitches and misaligned columns.
Understanding brioche gauge, yarn selection, and blocking
