I had an amazing holiday with great hosts, Graham and Cheryl were welcoming and provided a perfect environment in which to nurture the soul. It is a beautiful location, the rooms were spotless and the whole vibe was so relaxing. Graham worked so hard providing a wide range of delicious dishes; we were chilled out eating wonderful vegetarian food outside but he never got to sit still for long! Cheryl provided refreshment throughout the day whilst I learned new painting skills and produced work I am proud to show-off courtesy of the amazing and talented teacher and artist, Ali. I would definitely recommend Figs on the Funcho in combination with AlisArt Painting for a holiday you won't forget and will want to return to again and again.

I thoroughly enjoyed teaching a wonderful group of students at Figs on the Funcho last week. Everyone got on well from the start and none were afraid to try my art challenges! Cheryl and Graham were excellent hosts producing delicious food served in beautiful Portuguese poetry (which was one of the inspiratations for one of my lessons! The trip out to the coast was well thought out and the perfect place to sketch and paint En plein air at a fabulous restaurant looking overate amazing red cliffs and turquoise sea that is so well known in the Algarve. This was one of my top things to paint here! We also visited a beautiful town with a fish market lots of local artisans and a personal tour of an art gallery. The surroundings at Figs on the Funcho were also very inspirational. Fantastic! (Ali Hargreaves ~ Art tutor ~ Alisart)

It was a wonderful experience. The art course was very enjoyable the food was delicious and the ambience of the retreat was calm and relaxing. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Even though the weather was cold and cloudy it didnt spoil a thing. Cheryl and Graham were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. I am definitely going again.

The botanical watercolour workshop was well organised with Rita as an excellent “conductor”, advising - discretely - where needed without overwhelming. The place itself was great where you could be at peace with the motivated participants. The organisers did a great effort in preparing all this and absolutely not to forget the outstanding lunch. Some advice: better signposts should be useful and I missed a good Portuguese coffee. All in all a workshop to be recommended.

The atmosphere at Figs on the Funcho is very relaxed and welcoming, which sets the scene for a thoroughly delightful cookery workshop. Cheryl and Graham are wonderful hosts and their passion for good food and great hospitality is evident throughout the event. I enjoyed learning how to cook the dishes on our menu and also the social side of the event. I was in company with a lovely group of ladies and we paired up to make the different dishes. The food itself was delicious, we were all very pleased with our efforts! Eating our brunch in the beautiful setting outside, overlooking wonderful scenery, was a treat in itself. Overall, it was a really fun experience and I’m looking forward to trying out the recipes myself at home. Thank you Cheryl and Graham for a great brunch!
