Come to Tasmania to indulge in history, vast wilderness areas, Australia’s most spectacular mountains, dazzling beaches and the freshest food and wine imaginable.
Hobart ~ Bruny Island ~ Port Arthur ~ Launceston ~ Devonport ~ Cradle Mountain
Home to just 500,000 people, the island of Tasmania is as intimate as it is beautiful. Its gorgeous capital city, Hobart, is home to one of the world’s most intriguing art galleries, while northern Launceston is one of the few cities on the planet to be wrapped around a gorge. Drive anywhere in the island state and you can go from beach-lined coasts to World Heritage-listed mountain areas in just a few hours. During this tour we will visit historical sites, take a restorative dip in the Savoy baths, check out the galleries and markets, visit a a food lovers island and connect with nature, just to name a few of our activities! Along the way we’ll pass welcoming farm-gate producers, cellar doors and restaurants specialising in local produce so fresh it’s the envy of the culinary world.
First it was all about apples…but now the Apple Isle’s contribution to world food extends to premium seafood, cheese, bread, honey, nuts, truffles, stone fruit, craft beer, whisky, gin and intensely flavoured cool-climate wines. Many smaller producers are owned and operated by passionate foodies: Tasmania is seemingly custom-built for a food lovers holiday and we plan to make the most of it! Exploring Launceston local bars and laneways, niche provedores on Bruny Island and we have an afternoon of truffle hunting and a long lunch planned at the farm owned by siblings Anna and Henry Terry, (from TV show MKR) along with chief truffle hunter Doug the Golden Labrador. Of course there is the mandatory Tamar Valley Winery tour and we will dine in some Tassies best eateries.
But you will have to walk it off 😉 Each day we do a bit of exploring around the wilds of Tassie from the Famous convict site of Port Arthur to cradle mountain, to glow worm caves to getting lost in a man made maize. Everyday is fun and full of surprises. We also want you to relax so have included a little bit of down time and an opportunity for you to book a massage in Hobart and the Savoy Day Spa and on our way to Devonport we will visit the “Quiet Cone” for one hour of relaxation sound healing bliss.
