About this trip

As adults, life can often feel so serious or overwhelming. The idea of playfulness or childlike wonder can seem inaccessible or “not for me”. The big and small challenges of life come and we meet them, perhaps with grace but often with discomfort, an unwise response or wishing it would all just go away. We can strive to make things a certain way, including ourselves, with varying degrees of success.

This weekend is an opportunity to pause and be playful amidst it all. We are not trying to run away from or push away any of the discomfort of life but to explore how we can hold it all while remaining connected to restorative states. To explore happiness is to explore what it means to be human, even in times of personal and collective distress. It takes courage to remember our joy and the support of practices to help expand it.

During our time together you will be guided to nurture your sense of awe, wonder, and curiosity to support access to joy and delight. The forest offers the perfect space to invite this all in and let your body, heart, and mind simply be and soak in the goodness that is available. There will be guided walks in the forest that invite you into your senses, visits to ancient trees, tea in the forest, mossy nooks to rest in, walks to watch the sunset, fires to gaze into, solo time on the land, and conversation to tap into our collective wisdom. This will be complemented by a variety of optional opportunities to sing, make art, rest, or explore the land through movement or stillness.

What a wonderful gathering of amazing women! The setting was beautiful with sounds of the ocean and forest and all around, delicious food, and ample opportunity to explore. The facilitated sessions were impactful and nourishing. It was exactly what I needed, and I will definitely be participating again! Highly recommend!!!!

Temenos never disappoints! I arrive to excited and smiling faces happy to get me settled in my camping spot for the week. The surf instruction and support is so helpful and I improve more every year. The food is wonderful and nourishing, as well as all of the mindful activities at camp and around the fire. I leave refreshed and excited to return.

Temenos Rising retreats are pure magic: Wonderful people receive you fullheartedly. They offer great learnings in and about nature and in this case surfing with incredible teachers. The facilitators are the sweetest and fully present for each individual process that is alive in that moment. The food is delicious. Everything is cared for with much love so that one can live a moment of full presence, love, joy, crying, laughter and healing, slowing down, being rooted in oneself, receiving the wisdoms nature has to offer. It becomes clear that we can be connected with almost everyone, once we are open to community and vulnerable sharings.

This was my first time camping in over 10 years and a first time on a retreat in 5 years. The schedule was a nice balance of group activities and also time on our own to explore, reflect, and be. The land was beautiful-- the sweet smell of the forest, the sound of the ocean waves in the distance, and the plush soft moss that covered stretches of the forest floor. I walked barefoot and napped on a moss-covered fallen log. Irene is a very grounded and supportive guide and she and the other participants made me feel welcome, safe, and at ease. The food, was wholesome, delicious and so beautifully and lovely prepared. A very nourishing and sweet experience.

Temenos Rising was such a blessing to attend. Four days and three nights surrounded by courageous, vulnerable, bad ass and goofy women. We did incredible heart work in a space full of compassion and love. The surf coaching was incredible, the camaraderie we built will last a lifetime and the reverence and delight we birthed will grow significantly.

A simple, yet deeply evoking weekend spent on the Retreat to Reconnect. The food was excellent, the lodging comfortable, the grounds delightful and elegant, and the company amazing and insightful. What a beautiful gift.
